Author's Note — This is my first fanfic, so please review to help me with my mistakes. By the way, there is going to be major OOC-ness in this story. Enjoy!

Chapter One — Top Ten?

"Lu-chan! Wait up!" Levy McGarden yelled as she tried to catch up to her friend. Lucy stopped running and turned back to her. She grabbed her hand then turned forwards again.

"I can't! We're going to be late! C'mon!" Lucy Heartifilia yelled. They had ten minutes left and it takes thirty minutes for them to walk to school since they don't have a ride.

"I know, but we're going to be late!" Levy yelled back, as they sped to school at a constant speed.

"Still! I wanna see the top ten!" Lucy whined. "So let's run faster!"

Finally, the arrived at Magnolia High, and they were catching their breath. "Lu-chan... we're here... Let's go to the assembly," Levy said between her panting.

"Yep! Let's go!" Lucy and Levy ran into the auditorium, where the assemblies are always held. They ran into the room, slamming the entrance doors, which caused attention. Everyone's eyes were on them.

"Uh..." Lucy mumbled, her face turning red.

"Lu-chan, let's go take our seats," Levy whispered as she gestured Lucy to their seats. The two went to their seats and sat down. But there was still an awkward silence in the room. Levy let out a nervous laugh when she realized that everyone's eyes were still on them.

"So... where were we?" Levy awkwardly asked.

After she had asked that, a cough was heard from the front, which made everyone's attention turn towards the short old man who was standing in that spot.

"Okay, let's continue," The principal, Makarov said. "Before those young ladies came in, we were just about to announce the top tens of this school. And since some new students don't know what that is, allow me to explain. The top ten is a title for the talented students for being good at something of their own. They make up an ultimate team, and serve as our student council to do their shares of help."

"Now let me introduce those students! First we have... number ten! Jellal Fernandes for being one of the best artist that won the award at the age of five for his painting of 'The Scarlet Flowers'."

"Number nine! Juvia Lockster! She is recorded to be the fastest swimmer in the whole Fiore Country!"

"Number eight! Gajeel Redfox! He is known for the best wrestler of the district! He is undefeated and is currently number one on the wrestling team!"

"Number seven! Wendy Marvel! This young lady has the best knowledge in medical. It is said that she discovered a cure for it when she was only at the age of eight years!"

"Number six! Romeo Conbolt! He is one of the strongest people known out there, and according to records, he had lifted a car when he was six."

"Number five! Gray Fullbuster, the hacker! He broke into the WWC before when he was young, and demolished the whole system!"

"Number four! Levy McGarden! According to resources, Levy could be one of the smartest people of all of Fiore. She received the Fiore Noble Award when she was four years old, and her GPA is so high, we couldn't calculate it!"

"Number three! Erza Scarlet! She is the ace of the Judo club, and she is skilled at fighting and using weapons. She's also a hard worker when it comes to academics, and she never fails to impress the teachers!"

"Number two! Lucy Heartifilia! She is talented with the violin and piano and she received a music award when she was three and a gymnast who set the record fofr the highest flips!"

"Now for the number everyone's been waiting for... Number one goes to Natsu Dragoneel! He is the best athletes Magnolia had ever had and this kid is talented in all sports! His forte is football though! Everyone give it up for this year's top ten!" A chorused of cheering and claps were heard throughout the crowd.

"We did it! We made it!" Lucy and Levy cheered together, holding hands and jumping up and down.

"Okay! This is the end of the assembly of the new school year! Everyone besides the newly formed top ten must leave immediately! Dismissed!" Makarov yelled. Everyone cleared the room slowly, and after about seven minutes, the auditorium was empty besides messy chairs and eleven people.

"Now that the top ten is made, I would like to start this as the first meeting! Now everyone, get a jacket to represent the top ten!" Makarov pointed at the unopened box. Everyone knew it was the lettermen jackets you wear when you become the top ten, so without hesitation, they opened it, revealing colorful letterman jackets.

The jackets had their own individual color, and it had a number on the top right. Makarov handed everyone theirs since he had ordered them specific colors. Natsu received a pink one, Lucy got a yellow one, Erza got a red one, Levy got a really pale blue one, Gray got a dark blue one that could be mistaken for black, Romeo received a purple one, Wendy got a sky blue one, Gajeel received a black one, Juvia got a medium blue one, and Jellal got a dark blue one but not as dark as Gray's.

They each had a number that represented the number they are at the top right corner.

"Wow!" Lucy mused as she tried her letterman's jacket on. "Thanks Master!"

"Why is mine pink?!" A pink haired boy complained, waving it around in the old man's face.

"It supposed to be light red while Erza's was dark red but there was laundry issues so too bad," he answered. "Now continuing, please wear it at all times to represent that you are one. And to start the year, we'll make five sets of two people as patrol teams so you could check out the areas as a pair."

Everyone silently obeyed him, and waited for him to continue. "Please draw sticks from this box. Girls only, so they could get paired up with boys." He magically pulls out a box out of nowhere, which was filled with wooden sticks. Not complaining, they drew from it.

Lucy drew the number one, Erza drew ten, Juvia drew five, Wendy drew six, and Levy drew eight. After they drew and Makarov saw their numbers, he told them who they were assigned to. "Okay so, Lucy has Natsu, Erza and Jellal, Juvia and Gray, Wendy and Romeo, and last but no least, Levy with Gajeel."

"Now that we're done with all that stuff, separate so you can check out the areas," Makarov instructed.

"Yes Master~!" They chorused together.

With Natsu & Lucy

"You're Natsu, right? I'm Lucy, nice to meet you," Lucy introduced, holding out her hand.

"Yeah, yeah," Natsu said not caring. "You wanna go out with me?" Lucy pulls back her hand, and frowns.

"Huh?"

"I'm asking if you wanna go out with me. You're pretty and you seem to have a nice body so...?" Natsu trailed off.

Lucy flashed an offensive look, the covered her chest with her hands to block his view. "What the? You're such a pervert. No!"

"I'm not a pervert!" Natsu whined. "And you'll be begging me later. Ya know that?"

"I doubt it," Lucy said. "I tried being a good person, and I thought that the rumors about you weren't true, but they are!"

Natsu arched an eyebrow at her. "What rumors?" he asked.

"That you're a freakin player, and every girl who tries to go out with you ends up heartbroken, crying. That's why people call you 'Heart Breaker'. You might get any girl, but I'm not stupid to be one of them," Lucy stated.

"I am totally not like that!" Natsu pouted.

"Yeah right," Lucy said, not believing him. "Look. Since we're partners, we should start getting along in a friend way. Let's start over. I'm Lucy Heartifia, nice to meet you!" Lucy repeated.

Natsu sighed. "Fine... My name is Natsu," Natsu introduced. Lucy smiled, then turned her heel to face forward again.

"Good. Now let's check out the student council room first!" Lucy said as she grabbed Natsu's arm and dragged it down the hall. As they were running, Natsu thought, 'Lucy Heartifilia, huh? This is interesting. I'm the guy who's going to make you fall in love with me by the end of the school year.'
