"Oh my God. When?" Rose asked.

"When what?" the Doctor tried to sound innocent.

"When did my mum hit on you?"

"What makes you think..."

"When?" Rose demanded.

The Doctor grinned. "First time I went to the flat."

"Oh God."

"She was in her dressing gown," the Doctor remembered. "She was a little put out when I said no. You think that's why she doesn't like me?"

"No. I think that has more to do with you taking me away for a year."

"Ah, yes," the Doctor nodded solemnly.

"I can't believe my mum made a pass at you."

"Thanks!"

"I mean... well I know what she's like. The whole estate knows what she's like. But she's never tried it on with one of my friends before. Although, you're the first friend I've had who's sort of her age I suppose."

The Doctor looked puzzled. "Your mum's a thousand years old?"

Rose gave him an irritated look. "The first of my friends who's looked around her age," she clarified. "And how come your age is different every time you say it?"

"Ah, you'd noticed that then?"

"Yes."

"Well, mostly I make it up," the Doctor grinned. "But nine hundred, a thousand - it's somewhere around there, probably."

"Hopeless," Rose shook her head and then returned to the original conversation. "Has she ever tried again, since your regeneration?"

"No. Now she seems to want to mother me - which is far, far worse. Haven't been mothered in... well, ever."

"I can't believe my mum made a pass at at one of my friends," Rose repeated.

"To be fair to Jackie, and that's not something I make of habit of you'll have noticed, but anyway, to be fair to her - she didn't know we were friends then. In fact we weren't. And you had just introduced as a policeman."

"Oh yeah, that's much better," Rose replied sarcastically.

"Just trying to help."
