"Hey! Freak!" Poppy didn't look up at the heckler. "Hey! I'm talking to you, Freak!" came the voice again. Poppy clenched her fists. "Didn't your mum download you anything decent to wear?" taunted Delilah, the leader of the school's GaGa Girls. Why don't you just shut your trap?" Poppy shot back. I make my own fashion statements!"
"And what might that be?" Delilah came back. " 'Hello, I'm a pathetic little loser'? Well you can forget about coming to my birthday party tonight then. In fact, forget about coming to any of our birthday parties, right girls?" The others around her nodded. "Who'd want a Loser Freak infecting the rest of us?" That comment did it! With a growl of, "I'm NOT a Loser freak!" Poppy tackle-attacked Delilah and knocked her to the ground before starting to wail on her. The other girls gave out cries of terror and one ran off to get a teacher.
Soon, Poppy felt herself being pulled off Delilah. "Poppy!" came a stern adult voice. "Follow me!" Poppy gave another growl, but the teacher led her to the principal's office. A bruised Delilah followed slowly behind, her friends helping her all the way.
In the office, the principal glared at Poppy. "Now Poppy," he said with authority. "Apologize to Delilah right now."
"No!" Poppy spat. "And why not?" asked the principal once the shock of the girl's disobedience wore off. "Cuz she deserved it!" came Poppy's reply. "She deserved no such thing!" one of the girls tending to Delilah defended. The principal acknowledge the girl before telling them to take Delilah to the nurse. He then turned back to Poppy. "Poppy," he said sternly. "This is the 100th time you've been brought to my office this year. The third time this week and it is only Tuesday. Not following dress code, disobeying, arguing with the teacher, and things like that is one thing. However, physically attacking another student is inexcusable." Poppy continued to glare at him, arms crossed and unmoving as the principal picked up the phone. "I'm going to have to call your parents."
