Danny took a deep and probably over exaggerated breath as he walked down the Masterson's upstairs hallway. It had been weird to say the least; living with Jo and all. It was one of those situations where you already thought that you knew everything about the other person, but finding out that you were wrong. There were so many miniscule traditions, and mannerisms that Jo had that Danny would have never noticed before now.
Towel in hand, he put his hand on the handle of the upstairs bathroom door and easily turned it, pushing the door open. He jumped at loud gasp and the "The fuck, Desai?!" from inside before the door was immediately slammed in his face.
Danny stood frozen for half a second before stammering out a meek, "Sorry."
He ran a hand over his face and walked back to the guest room. What was the proper protocol for awkward situations like this? He didn't see too much really… Okay, that was a lie. He saw a lot. But maybe it wasn't just his fault. She could have locked the door… But he should have knocked first. Dammit. Now things were going to be really weird. No, he wouldn't let that happen. He knew he could smooth things over with her if he tried.
After an hour or so, Danny had completely abandoned the idea of getting in the shower and started to think of a way that he could word his apology to make sure things weren't awkward. He took a deep breath and walked across the hallway to and placed a firm 3 knocks on Jo's bedroom door. He was going to be sure to knock before entering every room he ever entered in that house for now on. "Can I come in?" He asked curiously.
Jo jumped at the sound of the knock, and let out a small breath. Sitting up on her bed she tightened the yellow sweater tighter around her body before letting out a "Yeah."
Danny timidly opened the door and lightly smiled. "Um, yeah, sorry about that earlier. I should have knocked."
Jo forced a grin on her face and shrugged a shoulder. She felt so self-conscious. "Don't apologize. I should have locked the door." She swallowed and watched him as he took a seat at the edge of her bed. She loved how simple he made everything. He just pretended like there was nothing to be awkward about and moved passed it. She loved that about him. It was really nice to have in a moment like this. "I really feel bad for you. It's not a pretty sight." She chuckled and shook her head dismissively.
"No." Danny smirked and immediately shook his head. "That's not the case at all. I promise." He smiled.
Jo rolled her eyes, completely not believing what he was saying. Before she had a chance to defy him he continued. "You're beautiful, alright?" He looked to her seriously.
Jo chewed her lip after getting the compliment. She did everything in her power to avoid the flush on her cheeks from becoming visible to him. "Thanks…" She said quietly as she looked away shyly.
There was a small silence between them before Danny lightly patted her leg. "I really do mean that." He said with a wide smile. With a sigh he stood up and started for the door. "Well, I guess I'm going to hop in the shower now." He explained before letting out a small chuckle. "Now, don't walk in on me as some kind of revenge trip okay?" He smiled. "Even though I have to admit that it would put us on even grounds."
Jo laughed and shook her head. "Oh, I'll get you when you least expect it."
