Massie didn't like Claire at the beginning because she couldn't go on a shopping spree for Labor Day. In art class, they pulled a prank on Claire by putting red paint on her pants at her butt and everyone that passed her laughed at her and the teacher saw and told her to go to the nurse's office. Alicia then tricked Claire and said the nurse's office was at the bottom of the stairs and take a left turn but then, when Claire got there, it was a photographer's room and said to keep out. Claire got furious then decided to pull a prank on them. Massie usually walked her dog Bean at 8:00 PM to 8:15 so she left her room. Claire decided to sneak into her room and fake IM her friends. She told them to wear shorts with tights underneath. Then next morning, Massie wore a Mandarin dress. Her friends were shocked because they think Massie told them to wear shorts with tights underneath. Even Claire did it. The next day, Claire snuck in again and told Kristen Massie's big secret. Massie liked Chris Abeley and Chris's little sister is Claire's best friend. Layne Abeley was Chris's younger sister. Massie asked Chris to go riding. Chris asked if he could bring his sister and Massie had to say yes. The Pretty Committee would never hang out with Layne so she thought it was a big secret. Claire told Kristen that and Kristen thought she was telling Massie but she was actually talking to Claire and she told Claire that she was poor but she thought it was Massie. They had tennis the next day. Since Claire knew her secret, she brought her a racket. Massie asked Kristen, "Since when can't you afford a racket? Kristen started calling Massie a really mean friend and started crying. She didn't want it brought up but it was and she couldn't avoid it. Massie later asked Kristen and Kristen said she IMed her at 8:10 and Massie said she was walking Bean then they all came to Claire as the one that snuck in. Later, Massie got over Chris Abeley because it wasn't worth hanging out with Layne and he already had a girlfriend named Fawn. Massie started crying and then she said that she should've gotten over Chris months ago.
