Choices

Kayla Mason Janeway dodged quickly to the side, the phazer shot barely missed her, but the shot from the other man, hit her directly in her right arm. The pain surged throughout her arm and soon it became numb. This was not a good day at all, she had felt sick this morning, and then this invasion! She quickly ran down the hall and back to the cargo bay.

Fifty or so people were moving about helping the injured, who kept growing in number, when Kayla arrived. She went over to her friend Destiny Sanders, who noticed the phaser burn on her arm and started to treat it immediately. Just then the Alpha team could be heard returning. Blasts from phaser rifles could be heard echoing throught the large room. Kayla stretched out her arm as Destiny finished healing her then, she grabbed her phaser and went over to help, but just then the doors burst open and they came in. Kayla saw her mother come in first. "Must have been leading," she thought. Kayla waited until everything calmed down a bit and went over to her mother, Captain Kathryn Janeway. As she walked she thought about her siblings. Kolopak, her oldest brother at fifteen, he was in Delta team and had guard duty at the door. He reminded her so much of their father, Chakotay, that it was scary. Next was Audrey at ten. She was still so innocent. She had been walking with Kayla when the attack started. Kayla had some how managed to get her to the cargo bay without incident. After Audrey, came the twins. Phoebe and Brooke are seven years old and identical, at the moment Kayla didn't know where either was. The aleins had most of the younger children held captive. This also included the three youngest Janeway's, Hillary, five, Edward, four, and Justine, only two. She was worried about them, but she was mored worried about her boyfriend Daren Hanson, age twenty. He was in the Alpha team and she hadn't seen him return yet. Her mother was busy talking to Commander Tuvok, but when she saw Kayla, stopped, gestured toward her and Tuvok walked off. Kathryn hugged Kayla as she mumbled, "Where is he?" "Kayla, baby, I'm so sorry..." Kayla didn't wait to hear the rest, her knees buckled and she started to sob heavily as she stumbled away from her mother.
