I suppose I should start this story with the words once upon a time, but I'll admit that is so not my style. My style would start off like this:

You know how there are those girls who dream of Prince Charming coming and flinging them onto his white stallion and then galloping off into the dazzling pink sunset? Well, I'm not one of those girls.

Don't get me wrong, sure that'd be nice and all to hold on to your beloved as you dash down to the dusky nightfall on a brilliant snowy steed, but, come on! How likely is that! Believe me, if I ever, ever say something's unlikely to happen that's basically a translation of, "It ain't gonna ever happen, girl. Period."

Besides, when have you even heard of someone getting their happy-ever-after ending after dealing with your boyfriend and witch-mother pulling your hair out of your scalp three times in a 24-hour period? Truthfully, I find it hard enough finding someone who actually has a boyfriend who inflicts headaches dealing with hair to begin with.

Really, outside of fairy-tale world, who does find that likely?

Except

Except that I did find a bit of a happy ever after without even looking.

The sad thing? It all happened in my own backyard…

A/N: Well, I've had this idea in my head for a month now. It's based on one of our all-time favorite ones too, so you should guess what it is soon enough. And, yes, I know this is really short at the moment but this "chapter" (if you can call it that) is more of an introduction/summary of the story, considering I had to start this somewhere and an intro sounded the easiest way out of that (I prefer to be a bit of a slacker, obviously.)

I'm planning on this story on being only a couple of chapters long, considering that I can only think so many modern interpretations for Cinderella—opps! I wasn't supposed to let slip what the story was about. Eh well.

Any—and I mean any—suggestions at all you have for this story (ideas, criticism, thoughts, anything!) definitely are welcomed!

What I have planned for the next chapter:

-Shattered glass

-Stepmom

-Moving in (make your own interpretations as to whatever you want these to be about; in fact, tell me what they are cuz they could actually bring some awesome ideas up and make the story even more dazzling! 8coughcough8)
