Hey everyone. This was written for Sophie's Shelf in the August Writing Club, Love in Motion, and Fortnightly Challenges Thread's Snape Appreciation Challenge on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. For Sophie's Shelf and Love in Motion I wrote for Hugo/Lorcan. For Snape Appreciation I choose to write for Shelf 1 4. Wiggenweld Potion and the task was to write about a healer. I hope you all enjoy You Should Have Listened.
"You should have been more careful, love," the soft voice of my boyfriend Hugo scolded me as I lie in the bed we share. "But thankfully it could have been a lot worse than it is."
I sighed as I tried to lean up to argue my point with him. The pain radiating down the left side of my told me I probably shouldn't have done that. It wasn't my fault that I wanted to help my parents take of the new rare creature that they had found.
"Don't try to sit up you," Hugo chided me. "You still have burns running up the left side of your body and trying to fix your broken arm you vanished your bones. You should have listened to your Mum when she told you that thing was dangerous."
I sighed in annoyance why was it when anything bad happened Hugo always sided with Mum. Even though I knew they were both right I was more than a little annoyed. I had been helping Mum and Dad with their creatures since I was old enough to walk. Not the dangerous one mind you but the ones that were easier to take care of.
I began to fidget as Hugo started to take off what was left of my shirt. A grimace growing across my face and tears welling up in my silvery grey eyes. I tried to hold in the cry of pain but couldn't.
Concerned blue eyes met silvery grey as Hugo tried to be more gentler with the way he was removing the remains of the shirt that had been ruined. Every time I made a noise he would stop for a minute and then continue his work.
"Your lucky these aren't third degree burns, Lor," Hugo sighed in relief. He brought out a jar from behind his back. "This will heal up pretty quick. But the arm might take at least a night to heal."
I sighed knowing what he was going to apply on the burns. It was a fairly new thing in the healing community and complied Essence of Dittany and Burn Healing Paste. It also kind of made Lorcan want to puke too.
"Don't give me that look, sweetheart," Hugo chided with a small smile. "You were the one who didn't want to listen. You were the one who got himself injured. Now you have to take your medicine like a good boy."
"Do I have to?" I asked glumly.
"Yes." With that said he began to cover the left half of my body in the horrid smelling paste. He then produced another bottle which I knew the name of too. Skele-Gro. "Down the hatch." he said rather cheerfully holding out a cup full of the stuff.
I sighed taking the cup and downing it as quick as I could. The taste was as horrible as the smell from the healing paste dittany combo. I gagged as I got the rest of the stuff down.
"Now you should rest," Hugo told him. "I have to go back to work but your Mum is downstairs and I'll be home in a few hours."
"Okay." I yawned feeling the everything hit me at once. Not for the first time in our relationship was I thankful that I was dating a healer of St. Mungo's. I drifted slowly off to sleep after Hugo gave me a quick peck on the forehead before leaving.
I hope you all enjoyed You Should Have Listened.
