The Sun
The early morning sun began to rise over Lantea, letting it's rays wash over the city of Atlantis, bathing it in a soft orange and pink light. Ronon Dex had woken along with the first beams of light from the sun, his years as a runner had trained him to wake at the first signs of the coming day.
He lay contently in his bed, with a very sleepy Teyla nestled in his arms. The Satedan watched her as he slept, admiring her serene beauty. remembering the first time he'd laid eyes on her when he was still a runner. He'd shot her with his stunner out of instinct. When one was being chased it was essentially what one would do, eliminate the threat. But when he looked at her as he was carrying her back to the cave, he had concluded that she was not a threat to him. Sure she could have been dangerous, she was armed with weapons. But something about her face told him that she would not harm him.
His hand wandered over her hip and rested over the swell of her stomach that was their unborn child. His heart clenching with tenderness at the thought of having a child with the beautiful Athosian. She was everything he could ever wish for, she brought him to Atlantis, she showed him that he could love again and now she was giving him a family. As he lost himself in his thoughts, he felt a small, delicate hand cover his. He looked down to see Teyla looking back at him with a sleepy smile.
"Good morning" he whispered, as he pressed a kiss to her forehead. She smiled at him, the smile that could warm the coldest and fix the most broken of hearts. Unable to resist, he brushed his lips over hers in a lingering kiss. Amazed at how her smile could make him feel like a school boy with his first crush.
They sighed contently, happy to just lay in each others arms. Ronon once again looked over at the Sunbeams making their way through the window, warming their skin. Yes, he thought, Teyla was like the sun. She graced the universe with her beauty just like a rising sun. She could take away fear by lighting up the dark and giving meaning to the shadows that lingered in the night. And she had warmed his heart like the sun was able to warm entire solar systems. There was no one else he would rather spend the rest of his life with, than the sun.
The end.
