I know I said I was on hiatus until Christmas, but I had a REALLY bad first week of school, and I needed to write something. This poem doesn't really follow any official format, I just wanted to get some emotions out.
My Best Friend
My best friend is an interesting girl.
She acts really tough, but is actually soft inside.
Her childhood was never fun.
All she wanted was a friend, but being alone is all she got.

My best friend loves attention.
She always has to be the star.
It makes her feel important.
She just wants the affection she was robbed of as a child.

My best friend loves to compete.
A desire to win keeps her going.
But losing is her reality.
Even a win ends up being a loss.

My best friend keeps a secret.
She never wants to reveal too much of herself.
There are so many things about her that I don't know, but she wont tell me what they are.
Keeping her heart closed ensures she'll never be hurt again.

My best friend is kind of weird.
The way she treats me leaves me confused.
She teases me with a warm smile, or yells and thinks only of herself.
How much do I mean to her?

My best friend is always there.
She saves me when I'm in dire need of care.
I don't know what I'd do without her.
I hope I'll never find out.
