She gazed around the arcade, searching for her missing friends. Of course, they weren't there. She gave a small frustrated sigh, and twirled around in her seat, before requesting a small hot fudge sundae. Motoki agreed with a grin, and she found herself impatiently looking around the arcade again. They hadn't come inside yet...
Her eyes widened in sudden realization, when she realized why they weren't there. Rei's! Sailor meeting. A quick glance at the clock told her the meeting was nearly over, anyway... Biting her lip, she glanced from the door, back to the counter, where Motoki was laughing with a customer as he scooped ice cream for her. Maybe she'd have time to grab the sundae, first... And then head over to the temple.
It wasn't like the meeting was that important today. Well, nothing they couldn't handle without her...
//Luna'd kill me, though!// Usagi thought, lips twisting into a grimace. Resignedly, she headed towards the door, only to fall to a stop when she hit solid warmth, clattering to the ground with a soft "oof!" Her eyes gleamed with timid delight when she realized who that solid warmth was.
"Mamoru-baka!" she grinned up at the dark haired man. Mamoru smiled back, and offered a hand to help her up, which she gratefully took.
"How are you, Odango?"
They'd come to an understanding. It wasn't much of one, but one that worked for their mutual friends, and for themselves.
Motoki was tired of listening to them argue, so he'd suggested a truce. The idea had lasted a minute, before Mamoru's insults got the better of him. But then came the second idea. Another truce, but with a twist. One or two hours, a day, insult-free. And work up from there.
Much like the original truce, it had lasted five seconds before an Odango Atama crack slipped out, and Usagi returned with just as much vengeance... Then her friends showed up, and when Rei had learned about Motoki's proposal... Well. Usagi soon found herself being nice to Mamoru, and actually liking him.
What were the odds?
"Fine," Usagi chirped, and flashed a quick smile, before squealing, "but I need to go, I'm late!"
Mamoru looked at her in mild confusion. "Late? It's the afternoon, where are you going off to in such a hurry? Usually you're racing here or to school."
"Gotta get to Rei's," she explained, cheeks flushing a bright crimson, "and I'm already about an hour late. Oooh, she's gonna kill me!!"
Mamoru snorted, "Why doesn't that surprise me? An hour! Wow, Odango, I didn't even know you could be that ditzy."
Usagi rolled her eyes, "Yeah, I know. Usually I'm not this late, but today I had other...distractions."
Mamoru critically eyed her, and then looked at the counter, where she'd unconsciously glanced at, and noted Motoki. "Ah ha. Distractions, indeed."
Usagi felt her cheeks heat in embarrassment, "Baka! No--"
"Don't deny it, because-"
"Usagi-chan!"
Both looked at Motoki, who was hurrying over to them, with her sundae in his hands. "You almost forgot this."
Usagi took it from him, shooting him a bright smile, "Arigato!" She looked pointedly at Mamoru as she dipped the spoon into the vanilla ice cream, and licked it clean, "See. Distractions," she winked.
Mamoru merely groaned, and watched her skip past him, and noiselessly shook his head at Motoki's questioning look.
Yes, distractions, indeed.
