Draco Malfoy, recently appointed Head Boy of Hogwarts, stepped into the grey-green surroundings, heavy doors slamming shut behind him. It was raining outside, not that it really mattered, but the tiny drops fell like needles into him. He should have been in class right now, but his eyes still had the telltale red-ish tint of tears. And he refused to let anybody know the he could cry. Out here, there was nobody, everybody was in class. Well, almost everybody.

In the distance he could see a spinning whirlwind of red. Getting closer he could see it was the Weasley chit. Smoking a cigarette while dancing in the rain, no less.

"Oi, Weasley, ten points from Gryffindor for smoking on school property, and what the hell, let's make it another ten for skipping class" he drawled with a plastered sneer, while dipping into his pocket for a his own cig. She held out her lighter and then gave a light laugh.

"Et tu, Draco?"

"And me, Weasley? Feel free to take points I could care less." Fully expecting to hear her begin Slytherin's loss, he was surprised to be greeted with an awkward silence.

"What are you doing out here anyway Weasley? Don't you have class? And more importantly, when did you start smoking, does your brother know?" he snarled at her.

"It's been awhile" was her only reply.

"Awhile since what child. Spit it out for Pete's sake." He was on the verge of strangling the mad girl. Turning to look at her for an answer he realized she had moved. Quietly he crept around to find she was sitting by the lake dangling her feet in the water.

Turning towards him, she smiled and said "Awhile since everything"

Rolling his eyes, he leaned back on trunk of the tree, and crossed his arms over his chest.

"Of course, now that wasn't vague in least."

She shrugged demurely, "So why are you here, Malfoy?"

"What? We've resorted to Malfoy again? What ever happened to Draco? That is my name you know"

"You're Draco, I'm Gin, now that we've introduced ourselves, you can tell me why you're out here"

"Gin, eh? Like the alcohol? Favourite drink then?"

"It's quite possible. If so, what's your poison?"

"Anything really, it'll all kill me one day. Only the shooter matters, the assists will never be remembered." Draco gave a little laugh as if to try and lighten his previous sobriety. She paused, tilted her head as if contemplating this, and then lightly shook it.

"Those you care about will always remember everything about you, no matter how small."

Biting his lip, he gave a bitter, hollow laugh

"Not so easy for someone who nobody cares about"

Suddenly a crack of lightening interrupted the conversation. Both turned to it before hesitatingly turning to each other.

"You asked what I meant by awhile, and I meant everything. It's been awhile since I went to class, awhile since I started smoking, awhile since I've cared. It's been awhile since I've been noticed. It's been awhile since I've been happy, awhile since anybody I know has, really. It's been awhile since I could sleep, or eat or even dream. It's been awhile since any of us found peace. But, the while's over. With each new rain, a new while begins. Just you wait, Draco, it's all better now."

Sighing, he bowed his head and whispered, his words barely audible

"I've never been one for illusions, but maybe, just this once, you'll let me borrow your rose-coloured glasses."
