The Bet

"I can do that." The Doctor claimed as they sat in the TARDIS television room.

He and rose were watching a show about contortionists and at that moment there was a woman on screen with both her legs wrapped around her head walking on her hands around the room.

"Course you can Doctor." Rose said sarcastically.

"I can!" he exclaimed "I bet you a tenner I can!"

The Doctor stood up and turned to face her with his back to the TV and held his hand out for her to shake on the bet. While she was thinking whether or not the bet was worth taking, she saw something over The Doctor's shoulder – the woman on the show had gotten her legs stuck and she needed three people to help her put them back in the right place. Rose had a cunning idea and made the bet even though she knew she would lose.

Satisfied, The Doctor proceeded to try and contort his body so his legs were around the back of his head and eventually, after a considerable amount of grunting, he managed it.

He looked up and grinned triumphantly "There see, Rose, I told you I could and now you owe me ten quid!"

There was no reply and he looked around the room for his companion, but she was already long out of the door.
