The Envoy of the Black Abyss

Prologue:

It was like nothing I had felt before, nothing I had experienced, nothing I could have imagined.

I have never enjoyed hanging around after school because the deadly silence that lurks there seems so haunting. With the teachers gone right after the bell rings, the entire campus becomes as still as a graveyard. No one remains as I am left alone to walk the empty corridors of the smooth white-stoned walkways. As I left the school I remembered what my friend had told me earlier: "Don't forget, you have a surprise waiting for you. So go home SOON!" Hesitantly I listened.

I walked home along the sidewalk and eventually wound my way across the maze of my town and back into my home. Just as I arrived into my house, my mother called to me.

"Ben! You have some mail here in the kitchen."

I thought to myself, I wonder what it could be. As I made my way into the kitchen I passed by the picture of my father and muttered a small word of prayer. "Hello Dad, how are you today?" As I finished, I smiled and continued into the kitchen. On the table sat a small brown box filled with Styrofoam beads, which were messily scattered on the table and the floor surrounding it. My mother handed me a letter and I opened it carefully as I usually did with most things. I began to read it and finished after it read "Sincerely, Kristi."

I took the box upstairs into my room and began taking the materials out. Inside were: a set of some type of visor goggles of some sort, a controller, a CD, an instruction manual, and even more Styrofoam beads. After sometime, the download from the CD was completed and on the monitor of my computer it read, "The World".

After connecting all the correct cables to their correct places to the computer, I clicked the mouse and put the goggles on. With the controller in my hands, I sat back in my chair. Then suddenly, beep. The inside of the goggles went black. I could not see.
