For something a little different, listen to Castle in the Sky Part II – Pieces of Ruin, by Slice the Cake, while reading. You might see why, you might not. Either is alright.
At sea in the crowd,
I forget myself.
Drawn to the depths,
I lose my world.
Why swim
Or even bother thinking
Of trying to escape
This world of you?
Something is leaving me.
Where are you going?
Anywhere but here.
Everywhere but you.
Confusion reigns,
Anger is misplaced,
Why do I rage?
Why do I cry?
Eyes an empty vase,
Tears disappear,
Consumed.
The nothing at this depth pierces what little is there.
A warm darkness
Enshrouds my ocean.
A cold light
Leaves my being.
Nothing is mine
Not anymore
Not again
Not on my watch.
I am in a bubble
Of darkness.
No light is allowed here.
Being swaddled.
I inhale
And feel life return.
I didn't know I was dead.
I never knew life
A lone book
To be unread
Can finally rest,
Remaining closed.
Leave me be
Pages empty
Nothing to say, no words for you
Lingering
A tranquil heat
Permeates through my blindness
Building a home for me alone.
Thank you.
Lights try to pierce
Try to prove I exist
If only to stop me from living.
I will not be gentle
Going into another day
The night is too generous,
Too kind to share with you.
Do not find me.
I'm in my abode.
I have a home at the bottom of this sea.
