Derek Shepherd shakes his head. The dark curls of his hair are flying from his head in different directions, revealing the fact that he hadn't slept very well in days. He flipped a piece of paper over on his clipboard, and nodded to Cristina. "Have them sign the paper. I'll do the surgery." He decided in an instant, tearing it from the clipboard and handing it to Cristina in one motion.
Cristina takes the paper swiftly, glancing up at him. "I do get to scrub in…right?" she asks, waving the paper in front of his face. "Because if I don't….I can't guarantee that this paper is going to get signed."
He shoots her a look, but she smiles back innocently. "Get that paper signed, then we'll talk." He mutters, his eyes falling back to the clipboard. End of discussion.
Meredith hurries by, barely having time to glance at Derek. Izzie meets her in the hall, and they both continue running down the corridor. "What happened?" Meredith exclaims, checking the pager in her pocket that's covered in silver and maroon sparkles. It seems so cheerful in contrast to the situation they're dealing with.
"Apparently someone who's not exactly a fan of Grey's Anatomy had it out for Owen." Izzie mutters, breathless from all the running.
"How's his condition?" Meredith asks, already going over the possibilities in her head. It had been almost a year since Owen had first appeared in the popular TV show. He tended to be a popular character...and quite honestly fans could be crazy.
Izzie didn't have any time to answer. They arrived in the hospital room, and heard the familiar beeping of a heart rate monitor. It seemed steady enough. A few interns were huddled around the edge of the bed, checking the monitors and the condition of the patient. A few murmured to each other in excited whispers. Typical interns.
Meredith glanced at the man. His eyes where closed peacefully, and his red hair was just as crazy as usual. She glanced up and noticed Izzie looking over the notes one of the interns had handed her. "What's the verdict?" Meredith asked.
"He'll live." Izzie declared, glancing at Owen before looking back at Meredith. "I guess there will be another season of Grey's Anatomy after all."
