Light brown eyes stared blankly out of the window of the large building he was currently in. So long it had seemed, that this investigation had begun. He knew it wouldn't be easy from the beginning; wanting to be God of a new, perfect world but this much trouble? He felt a small tap on his shoulder and turned his head to the one trying to get his attention.

"Light-kun, are you feeling well?" He hid the glare that naturally came every time he looked at that cursed man. He couldn't stand one bit of him. His messy hair and clothes. His nonchalant attitude. And his cursed love of sweets! It agitated him to no end but every time he thought about all of the things that he hated about L, he always caught that small, hidden part of himself longing for the strange detective.

"I'm fine Ryuuzaki. Thanks for asking," he turned his eyes back out to stare at Tokyo. The fingers that had tapped him soon turned into a hand on his shoulder and that hatred in him burned up that L could touch him so comfortably. But again, that small part of him loved it. He slid from the other man's grasp, of course pretending for it to be an accident.

L frowned slightly. Why was Light so wound up. Why would he try to hide his glares? Why would he avoid him? Why? L closed his charcoal eyes in thought. Perhaps Light-kun was sick, or maybe sad. He was his first friend, L mused. Friends were there for comfort, for friendship, for love. Innocence clouded his mind as he wrapped his thin arms around the slightly taller man due to his hunched over stature. Light tensed in his grasp and tried moving away but was unsuccessful in his attempts.

"Let go of me." It was said in the most neutral tone Light could muster at the moment. How dare he? Why hadn't he sooner? His two sides battled for dominance but his rational mind always won. Always.

L refused to release him. He could feel Light's anger but that didn't matter. All that mattered was that Light felt L's love for him. It didn't matter what kind. Friendly, brotherly, romantically. All that mattered was that he knew it was there. He pressed his nose into Light's back, closing his eyes once again.

"I love you," whispered L. He couldn't help but tell. It was like when you had a secret and you want to tell somebody so badly it hurts and you only feel relieved when someone finally knows, whether they care or not. L didn't care if Light cared or not, just that he knew and the weight was off of his chest.

Light froze completely. That small piece of him flared up in joy but his ever rational mind screeched in anger. He turned in L's grasp harshly, glaring down at him. He couldn't help it. Screw the investigation, and the suspicions. He didn't care about that right now and neither did L it seemed.

"I hate you." L leaned back and a frown marred his pale face. His blank eyes seemed darker as he looked down. Light took that moment to analyze the situation but L wasn't about to sit there. He leaned up to Light, pressing his soft cold lips to Light's soft warm ones. Light froze as that small piece controlled him for that split second that L had taken and marked as his own. He pulled back sadly.

"You don't have to hate me."

"You don't have to love me."
