The entire flat was filled with flowers — her favourite flower — but she didn't know why or how. Wading through the orange petals, Marlene made her way to the kitchen. This was obviously Sirius' fault, but why? And how did he get so many orange lilies?

This was ridiculous.

Marlene stooped down to start to collect the flowers — there really were a lot of them — and glanced at the clock. Sirius would be home soon. Then she could ask him what the hell happened.

As she placed the last lily on the table, the door swung open. Sirius stood there, holding even more flowers.

"What is this?" Marlene asked, raising an eyebrow.

She wasn't sure if this was all to impress her, but it didn't. He'd have to do more than flowers to impress — especially after their fight the night before. It was over something small — Marlene couldn't even remember — but they were both too petty to back down from each other.

"I got you flowers," Sirius said, obviously not expecting her to be home. He gestured behind her with one hand, holding bouquets of red and purple flowers with the other.

"Why?"

Sirius raised an eyebrow, walking over and pressing a kiss to her lips and dropping the new bouquets next to the other orange flowers.

"They're your favourite," Sirius noted, shrugging at her.

Right. Because Marlene was supposed to believe that he just got her favorite flower for her. She loved orange lilies, true, but Sirius always had an ulterior motive. She'd learned that much from dating him.

"They stand for hatred, did you know that?" Sirius asked, giving her a small grin. Marlene raised an eyebrow, waiting for more explanation. "I was upset from last night and Remus' Mum owns a flower shop so —"

"So you got a bunch of flowers to tell me you hate me?" Marlene asked, raising a single eyebrow. That was so utterly Sirius.

Sirius nodded.

"What's with the new flowers?" she asked, gesturing at the purple and red flowers.

"Well, I felt bad for filling the apartment with 'I hate you' flowers, so I got purple hyacinths for 'I'm sorry' and red tulips for a 'declaration of love'."

Marlene continued to raise a single eyebrow.

"An amazing plan," she noted, smirking at Sirius.

"I thought of it by myself. And with Remus," he said, smiling. "I love you," he said in a sing songy voice, kissing her forehead.

Marlene rolled her eyes and laughed. She'd need to find somewhere to put all these flowers, but it was a nice gesture. So very Sirius.

"I love you too."
