"So you're calling me selfish?" A puzzled Sam asked Castiel.
"No you misunderstood me, Sam."
"How so?"
'I was just pointing out..."
"...the consequences of my actions. I got that part Cas."
"Well if you and Dean know this."
"Oh so Dean's selfish now too?"
"Again you misunderstand me Sam. It's just Dean has saved you in the past."
"I know, more than once."
"Then you saved him, Sam."
"That is true, with a lot of help from my friends." Sam patted Castiel's shoulder.
"I think you both might have realized."
"Realized what?"
"Well its just.."
"What Cas?"
"Well that if you and Dean see there are always consequences why do you and Dean."
"Keep saving each other?"
"No, well yes."
"So I should've let Dean die?"
"No, I'm not saying that."
"Then what are you saying?"
"I know why you save each other Sam. Its just.."
".. the consequences?"
"They seem..."
"Selfish?"
"No Sam. Wrong."
"You're right Cas. They are wrong and I wish they didn't happen, like I'm sure Dean does too. But I can't, not try to save my brother."
"I know. Sam but its.."
"Those consequences."
"Yes. This is a no win situation I'm beginning to see."
"That's where you're wrong Cas."
"How so?"
"Dean's here."
"That is true."
"And putting aside how much that means to me. The world is a better place with Dean in it fighting evil and saving lives. The consequences they suck, they really suck Cas and I wish there weren't any but Dean being here, he makes a difference.
"I've lost everything and everybody except Dean. He is the most important person in my life and always has been. Dean's not only my big brother hes been like a father too.
"He's everything to me Cas and I'm never going to give up on him ever. So if that makes me selfish..."
"Then call me selfish too," Dean stepped into the room warmly eyeing Sam. "Because I feel exactly the same way."
"Dean how long have you been standing there?' Sam asked embarrassed and starting to turn red. Which caused Castiel to move closer out of curiosity.
"Long enough Sammy. Long enough," Of course Dean would never divulge he heard the whole conversation.
"This is embarrassment right Sam?" Castiel asked.
"What?"
"Your face turning red that's what human do when they are embarrassed. I've never experienced that," Castiel reached out to touch Sam's face.
Sam backed up and without saying a word gave Castiel a stern look before marching out of the room.
"That's called bitch face Cas!" Dean pointed out.
"Oh I know that one," Castiel said matter of factly.
'Me too," Dean chuckled. "God and how I've missed it."
