I was so focused on Meredy's question that I became oblivious to my surroundings. You saved me then and we both survived. How can I thank you enough? You said you wanted to tell me something. My heart started racing along with my mind. What words will you say to me? I could only imagine. But then a voice screamed my name and I turned to see the incoming danger. And that was all it took. One slip, one brief moment of negligence and you were stepping into my path, pushing me to the ground once more. Time slowed down as I lay helplessly watching. Watching you scream before my eyes, watching your blood rain to the ground. Hearing that scream that will never erase itself from my mind, one so twisted in agony and pain. Your eyes seemed to dim as you crumpled to the ground. No…

"GRAYYYYYYYYYY!" I scream your name in hopes it was only a dream. How can you leave me tearing apart? Broken down in tears, I'm sobbing. As my scream filled the air I ran over to you, taking hold of your face in my hands. You can't leave me now, your life isn't done. Gray, take my hand, it's ok. The heavens can live without you for now. I need you more than ever. I love you so much.

"I love you so much…" I cried over you. "Wake up, Gray. Please."

Tears mixed with blood as I kissed your lips softly, like I'd always wanted to do. But no, not like this, not this one sided kiss. This isn't the you that I knew. You feel colder than cold, as if the ice in your soul is freezing your whole being. I sensed no warmth coming from you as I pulled back in fear, hoping you were still with me.

"Gray, please speak to me, I can't live without you." My rose as I screamed to the sky. You remained perfectly still. My fingers intertwined with yours, your hand remained limp. Will I ever hear the words you wanted to speak?

"Someone help!" I screamed out in vain. "Get a healer! Do something!"

"He's gone, Juvia." Lyon laid a comforting hand on my shoulder.

"No! Why couldn't it have been me instead?!" I sobbed as I pushed his hand away. It couldn't be too late…

It couldn't be true that you whom I love more than anyone else could be gone in a moment. Someone as perfect as you, you've saved me many times. From ridding me of the rain, helping me find a new home, and calling me your nakama. I always wanted more though, but what for? What I had had been enough all along. Your presence alone comforts me and gives me strength. Why did you have to push me out of the way? Please Gray…

"Gray just wake up, I love you. Since the day we first met, when it never stopped raining you helped me see clearly. I saw the sun for the very first time because of you. You've always been in my heart, and you always will be. You're irreplaceable." I gripped his hand harder and closed my eyes. "I can't go on without you beside me! Dammit! I'll never stop loving you! Just open your eyes and tell me-"

"I love you too."

My eyes snapped open as the once limp hand curled around mine. I looked down at you, and your small smile grew as your eyes flickered open slowly. My heart soared up inside of me knowing that you were alive, and now it was my turn to protect you.
