* This is a poem I wrote from Vanessa's perspective and how she worries about Tony once they get out of Aspen Springs. For all of you wonderful people who commented on my story "Consequences", I am continuing with it!! I've already started the next chapter, it will be up soon.*

Parallel rainfall clashes

With thunder pounding

On my window pane,

Preventing peace

From entering

My being.

I can't sleep

So I'm wondering

If you're walking the streets

Tonight,

Head bent,

The hood of your jacket

Concealing

A too beautiful face

From predators peering

Round lamp posts and corners.

My heart twists

Painfully

In a knot

When I think

Back to that afternoon.

We said farewell

Under a curtain

Of twilight,

A drapery of pastel

Colors

Hovering

Over our heads.

Raising my hand

To your smooth

Lips,

You whisper,

"Take care."

I hide my tears

And turn towards

The car where

My father

Waits.

But in my shadowy

Bedroom

I let the tears

Stream

Down the same

Cheeks

Your fingertips

So lovingly touched.

And, honey,

It takes whole lot

Of iron will

To resist the urge

To go running

Into the bathroom

And pull out

My razor blade

Escape.
