Thursdays had become especially hard at seven months pregnant.

She felt HUGE.

This Thursday, however, was going to be hard even if she wasn't pregnant. This Thursday was the beginning of the end, at least in her book.

She'd received the memo by email two days ago. Jack hadn't told her in the planning stages because, as he said, he was afraid to upset her. Well, he was right, she was upset.

This Thursday was the press conference that would tell the world about the Stargate.

She, Lieutenant Colonel Doctor Samantha Carter-O'Neill, would have to stand up, seven months pregnant in front of the world and try to explain to a bunch of idiots the technology that allows the gate to run. She's a patient person at the best of times, but her patience had run out three months ago.

Her attempts to bring Mckay back from the Pegasus galaxy fell on deaf ears. It ends up that there is a limit to what you can pressure people into with the I'm-pregnant-and-yet-could-kill-you-with-a-flick-of-my-wrist glare.

It was this glare that kept her from being afraid of the press and mobs that should come with the revelation of the Stargate. Just take down one cameraman, quickly, and threaten anyone else that happens to come near…blame it all on hormones, and there, media handled.

No, she had her doubts about what would happen, but found she couldn't begin to speculate. As she stood to the side of the platform in the Whitehouse press room, watching the president begin his speech, she held her breath and gripped Jack's hand hard.

"My fellow Americans, I'm here tonight to tell you about a wonderful discovery. We have learned, without a doubt, that we are not alone in the universe…"

There was no Apocalypse. Protestors showed up in most major government offices to demonstrate against the lies of the government, but there was no violence. There really wasn't much change at all.

The people still distrusted the military, the international community was angry at America, and the paparazzi were the locusts of the disaster. All in all, everything was the same.

She didn't dislike Thursday at all, especially the Thursday her press conference was held on. She never would forget Rodney Mckay's face when he was beamed into the Whitehouse press room, just beside her as she stated, "Yes, I was the lead scientist on the gate, and yes, most discoveries that were made are mine, despite what this man is about to tell you. However, a perk of being the lead scientist is that I don't have to stand here and explain it all to you. I have him for that. Ladies and Gentlemen, Rodney Mckay."

Her realization on that Thursday was that she really did heart Thor.
