Almost Fatal Secrets

Damn it.

Where were his keys?!

They had to be here somewhere.

Dean screamed as he dug though the multi-colored leaves covering the ground. They had been in his pocket but must have fallen out when the monster of the week had decided to come after him. He still couldn't believe Sam had jumped in front of him. What had his little brother been thinking?

Dean was handling the situation perfectly on his own. But at seeing his big brother in trouble, Sam had gone ahead and dove right in, putting him in between Dean and the threat.

Sam had warned him it was a bad idea to go on a hunt where they didn't even know what they were fighting. Sam swore he hadn't had time to do enough research, but Dean had insisted they could handle whatever was thrown at them. Once again, Dean had been proven wrong. Not the first time, and it wouldn't be the last.

And what had they been thinking going on a hunt without a first aid kit? Well, to rephrase: what had he been thinking? Sam would never have allowed them to go without the kit, but Dean had wanted to hunt so badly he hadn't told his brother about their depleting supplies. Now Sam was going to pay for it. They were running out of the time because soon the younger Winchester's blood would be changing the color of the leaves. Alone in the woods; Sam bleeding out, and the Impala's keys were nowhere to be found.

"Gotcha," Dean closed his fingers around the cool metal. He felt reassured because his baby was going to assist in getting Sam the help he needed because right now the younger Winchester was painting the forest floor a very not pretty shade of red.

"It's gonna be okay, Sammy. I got the keys." Having found the way out of this camping situation, Dean made his way back to his little brother. The older Winchester hummed "Hotel California" as he wrapped the wounds on Sam's chest only using the only bandaging material available, his flannel shirts. There went another one of his favorite shirts and one of Sam's, but anything for his little brother.

"Dude, The Eagles? I thought you were a Zeppelin man through and through." Sam attempted to calm his brother despite the pain. He hissed a breath through his teeth when Dean pulled the sleeves of the shirt tight around his back.

"Gotta change it up every once and a while . Also thought it was fitting for the situation because this is definitely my kind of hell," Dean said faking a laugh while tying one final knot causing Sam to grimace again. "Now let's get you out of here and patched up." Hauling his younger brother to his feet while holding the makeshift bandages in place, Dean vowed to never let the first aid kit go un-stocked again.
