Remus was sitting in the library of Number 12, Grimmauld Place, reading a rather large tome on magical beasts. It was from the Black library, so it focused a bit more heavily on the darker creatures, and had a rather disgusting section on werewolves and their uses. While Remus detested every word he read, it was necessary. He was about to be sent off to become a spy for Dumbledore in the werewolf pack, and he needed to know as much as he could about how these other werewolves thought.
The door opened and a girl with bright pink hair popped her head in. "Remus?" She called softly. Remus greeted her with a tired smile and set the book down on the table next to him, rubbing his bloodshot eyes as she walked in. Almost immediately, the smell of chocolate hit his nose and Remus perked up, straightening in his seat.
"I brought you a snack. Thought you might be hungry." Tonks said with a grin, handing him the plate of molten chocolate lava cake. All of Remus' exhaustion disappeared after the first bite, and he sighed in pure, unadulterated joy as the warm goo hit his tongue. This was heaven.
"Thank you, Tonks." He said with a soft smile, watching as the young Auror took the seat opposite him, a small cloud of dust rising from the chair as she plopped down.
"It's getting bad, isn't it?" She asked suddenly, a frown creasing her features. Her pink hair dulled to a dark magenta, and Remus knew she was concerned. He set aside the cake, a marvelous feat, and gave her his full attention.
"Yes," he told her bluntly, unwilling to lie. "It is. The Dark Lord is gaining strength and we are no closer to finding a way to defeat him. Things are... bad."
Tonks looked at him for a moment before slowly moving forward, kneeling in front of his chair. Remus raised an eyebrow in question, but she shook her head, and he held his tongue. She brought her face very close to his, and Remus could smell chocolate on her breath. He leaned in unconsciously and their lips met.
He had been wrong. This was heaven.
"Nymphadora-" he started, pulling back, though it took a little of his soul to do so.
"Shh. We might die in this war. If we do... I want to live, first." She said, and kissed him soundly on the lips. Remus couldn't argue with that, and he returned her sweet kiss, the taste of chocolate on her tongue.
