Introduction
As anyone who is familiar with the online fan fiction universe for Alias Smith and Jones knows, monthly writing challenges are a way of life. On the first of every month, two ASJ boards regularly post a prompt to get writers' imaginations flowing. Over the years, from those humble words or phrases have sprung short stories or continuing multi-chapter tales in every category imaginable.
Sometimes, though, the bunny hops in different directions and demands a rest from the prose-based format. Thus do we occasionally see verse - structured, blank, or otherwise. One definition of poetry is "the art of rhythmical composition, written or spoken, for exciting pleasure by beautiful, imaginative, or elevated thoughts." (Dictionary dot com) My own efforts in that realm can hardly be described thus, but it is always fun to branch out and exercise the writing chops. Here are a few of those humble experiments.
