The
outlook wasn't brilliant for the Winchesters that day:
The odds
stood four to two, with no more hunters on the way.
The lower
level demons had surrounded both the boys,
Planning their
destruction, but first playing with them like toys.
The
Winchesters took a fighting stance, standing back to back,
Hoping
they could make it through this deadly, surprise attack;
Calling
forth their father's teachings in combat and defense -
The boys
sized up their opponents, both feeling very tense .
The
demons were elementals, the boys could plainly see -
Using their
powers against each other: that was the key.
But the demons, who
were often foes in the day to day,
Knew about this weakness and
kept their opposites away.
The
Demon of Air stood at the north, puffing out its cheeks;
The Water
Demon at the west thundered out mighty shrieks.
The south point
was taken by the quiet Demon of Earth,
While Fire stood east,
raging, blazing for all it was worth.
It
seemed all noise had been extinguished, sound had been shut out;
The
silence was quite eerie until Earth gave out a shout;
"Aggredior!"
It yelled – and they all began to encroach,
But the boys were
ready, knowing that the word meant "approach."
Air
struck first and blew Sam backwards, as if he weighed but
naught;
Then Earth arose up from the ground, a mountain there was
wrought.
But Sam, like Dean, was no stranger to being thrown
about
And quickly out-maneuvered the attempt to knock him out.
Fire
threw itself at Dean, seeking maximum distress;
He dodged but
found himself trapped in Water's lethal caress.
But Dean, like
Sam, was no stranger to airways being closed;
Turned the tables on
Water, dousing Fire while exposed.
The
three remaining demons took a moment to regroup,
To lose one of
their own so quickly threw them for a loop.
The brothers knew they
had to act while Water was still weak,
Couldn't let their
advantage slip while it was at a peak.
Sam
led Air while Dean led Earth around on a wild goose chase,
They
met back at the start; Water vaporized into space.
Air and Earth
were disgusted - how could they fall for that ploy?
Now they were
even, two-on-two; they wanted to destroy.
Air
circled the Winchester boys, keeping them on alert;
Earth dug deep
beneath the brothers, cutting into the dirt;
Together they worked
to open a pit deep in the ground;
Then down fell our heroes,
nothing but cold, dry land around.
"We
can't get out," Dean told his brother. "It's too loose and
steep,"
After attempting to climb out and landing in a heap.
Sam
paused to think a bit and remember what he had learned,
A class on
myth at Stanford to his memory returned.
He
yelled out and taunted Air to attack them where they stood;
Dean
trusted his kid brother, though the outlook seemed no good.
But
still he followed his brother's lead and Air took the bait,
The
Air demon came crashing down, filled with malice and hate.
Earth
and Air raged all around, pelting the boys without care;
Doing
their best to smother as they fell around the pair,
But when the
thick dust had settled, and all was said and done;
Exhausted
laughter could be heard – the Winchesters had won.
