House was only 45 minutes into his clinic duty, and he was already bored out of his mind. So far, he'd had two colds, chlamydia, and tonsillitis. All of the diagnoses were simple, and he was beginning to resent every patient that walked through the door
of exam room one.

As he listened to yet another patient roll off a predictable list of symptoms, the door behind him opened.
"House. My office. Now"
He turned around and was face to face with Lisa Cuddy, the "big man" of the hospital.
"Whatever you say, cap'n". He turned to the patient sitting on the bed.
"Sorry, but I gotta go, David."
"It's Derek."
"Right. Anyway Derek, you wouldn't say no to that would you?" He gestured towards Cuddy's low cut top, and she rolled her eyes.
"House, let's just go. Sorry for the interruption Derek."
She grabbed House by the hand and pulled him out of the room. When she was sure he was going to stay with her, she let go, and walked towards her office, House just behind.

When they got to Cuddy's office, she sat down behind her desk, and House closed the door, then sat down opposite Cuddy.

"I need a sperm donor."
"You brought me in here to tell me something I already know?"
"No. I brought you in here to ask you something."
She looked down at her legs, smoothed her skirt, took a deep breath, then looked back up at House.
"I want you to do it."
Silence descended on the room, and Cuddy immediately began to regret ever asking.

"Okay."
"What?"
"Okay. I'll do it."
"Really? You're not going to bribe me or try and bargain? You're not putting up any fight?"
"Nope."
"Hmm."
"I just want to know - why me? There are so many doctors at this hospital. Why did you choose me? I told you you'd be a bad mother! I'm an ass towards everyone, and I'm the last person people would choose to help father a child."
"I like you, House. And I trust you. Whether or not you choose to be a part of the baby's life, I want you to at least help start it."
"Why not Wilson?"
"What?"
"Why didn't you choose Wilson?"
"Because I don't have the same feelings for him as I do for you."
"But you go on dates together! He took you to a play! Why did you say yes if you don't like him?"
"It's nice to have a friend. Wilson's a nice guy, but he's just a friend. So is it a yes?"
"Sure. Whatever. Can I go now?"
"Yes. And don't tell anyone."
"But mooom! This is great gossip!"
"Just go."

House left the room, and Cuddy settled down to file some reports. Just as she was getting into it, the door opened, and she looked up.
"What is it House?"
"So, do you like me, or do you like like me?"
"Should've been listening. Now out."
"Wait, wait, I have one more question."
Cuddy raised her eyebrows and looked expectantly at him.
"Are we gonna... You know..."
"If you want. Now get back to work before I fire you."
"Yes! I've been dreaming of this for years."
"Great. Now go and do your job."
