Summer of '95
I leaned against the brick wall of the store, the coolness of the brick against my back in the somehow hot summer night sky. I looked up. I watched the stars do their cavort across the endless darkness. They were so free, unlike me. I felt my left hand go numb, and hesitantly turned my gaze away from the stars. The ice cold coca cola bottle in my hand was cooking me off, and making even number than I wanted to feel. It was useless. This world I lived it, there was no love, no kindness. Everyone is forced to face the harsh reality of unhappiness.
Cities full of empty people. Well, one empty person; me, all because she was gone. She had left, before I had a chance to say goodbye. No, I did say goodbye, just not the goodbye I really wanted to say.
"Hey!" I stop my sadness just in time to see Tutuola running down the street. I faint remainder of a smile appeared on my face.
"What's up young blood?" He asked with a 100 watt smile once he caught up to me. "What you doing out here alone?"
I held up the coco cola bottle, which was starting to cool down from the night heat.
"Oh." He said. "You still thinkin' 'bout Amanda?"
Just the mention of her name stung tears in the back of my eyes. My vision fell on the run down Brooklyn skyline as I nodded my head yes.
"I-" Fin's voice trailed off as we both turned around to another voice.
A figure was running from across the street towards us. I hoped to god that it was who I thought it was. As the person came closer and closer, screaming my name. It take long for my prayers to reach the heavens as I realized who it was. A smile came into spread on my face.
Clad in a white shirt, dark overalls and bright red converses, Amanda ran up to us breathless. Seeing this was going to be a private discussion, Fin dismissed himself, saying he'll call me later.
"I thought you headed back to Georgia?" I asked cheerfully.
"I was. But I talked my momma into letting us stay for a while longer." Amanda answered, still breathless.
"Amanda-" I was happily cut off from another word by Amanda pushing me against the brick wall and pressing her lips into mine. Us, kissing in hot summer heat in total darkness only being illuminated by the unimpeded stars and moon. It seemed too good to be true.
I knew someone could see us, and that wouldn't be a pretty conversation. So being the tall one, I gently pulled her off of me.
"I missed you." I whispered holding into her waist tightly. "How much longer are you staying?"
"Three months." She whispered just as quietly.
I sighed. I was going to make the most out of those three months, because that would be the last chance I would ever have with Amanda Rollins.
"I really missed you." I repeat
"I missed you too, Olivia." She whispered back kissing my cheek.
I have no idea where this idea came from.
A/N: I purposely did not name Olivia until the end. Just for some mystery. It could've been Nick, or anyone else. It takes place in the AU of in which Olivia is the same age as Amanda-15.
