RILEY'S POV
Today was a great day. I woke up to the sound of the cheerful birds singing outside. I sat up and looked at my alarm clock. The time read 6:47. I raised my eye brows, was I dreaming? I feel like I barley slept at all! I looked at the bay window expecting to see my best friend Maya come charging through the door. We had known each other for as long as I can remember, and she will always be my bestie. I smiled to my self as I remembered all the fun and joyful memories we have together, and sure to make much more. I grinned as I recalled the time we both had a crush on that same guy, but then she started liking a new guy, who just happens to be my uncle, Josh. I waited for a few heartbeats but then realized that Maya wasn't coming. I groaned as I imagined her sick in bed, unable to contact me for her throat was so swollen that she could not speak. Suddenly Maya charged through the window and laughed at my surprised expression.
"Sorry I was late, can we still hit the subway?" She asked, grinning.
"Duh! I thought you were not coming! I gotta get ready."
I put on my favorite clothes, a dress with pretty daisies on it with a blue back round. I had a small jean jacket covering the front of it, and had cute little black boots that had little flowers on them. My leggings were black. My hair was straight and black as usual. Maya's hair was ruffled and messy, but blonde as ever. She was wearing a striped shirt with dotted leggings. She had the same boots as me, but with horse shoes on them instead of flowers. We walked to the subway and she gave me a smile and said something crazy, as usual.
"I dare you to climb to the top of the pole." She said laughing
"No way! But you can!" I challenged.
"Ok! Fine, it is gonna get crazy up in here!" She said running to the pole.
The security guard ran up to her, yelling profanity and telling her to get down, but she didn't listen. She was all the way at the top. People were gasping and yelling at Maya, telling her to get down, but Maya was too busy waving at me to pay attention to what then people were talking about. But then I saw it. The pole was wavering, the security guard was shaking it too hard. Maya was going to fall!
