Author's Note: This is a short one-shot I wrote for the CommentFic community on LiveJournal. The prompt was "setting up the secret evil lair." I hope you enjoy. Reviews are welcome and appreciated.

Gru looked around the large underground chamber, giving a small nod of approval at the minions' craftsmanship.
Computer banks lined one third of the circular room, monitors above them showing news reports and feeds from the security cameras. The monitors were connected so they could instead project one giant image, which he knew was good for monologues.
A doorway on one side of the computers led to the armory and testing range. On the other side, a second door led to the lab and sleeping quarters for the minions.
Behind him was the platform which served as the entrance to the lair and could rise back to the house far above.
Turning around once more, he really hoped he had picked the right shade of purple of pink. He knew she didn't want her first lair to look too cute, but he also knew she was Agnes, so cute was always going to be part of the equation.
Besides, the girls had proven quite well over the years that one could be both cute and a top-notch villain.
The fact that he was giving Agnes a lair of her own wasn't going to be a surprise after he had done the same for Margo and Edith, but with her college graduation ceremony only days away, it was time to complete the final details on her lair.
That had been the deal. College first, villainy after.
Gru felt a pang knowing his youngest daughter was about to head off into the world on her own, but he knew that he, along with her sisters, would be there to help her along the way.
Nodding one last time at the room, he stepped onto the platform and pulled the level, beginning the ride back to the surface. On the way, he wondered once again just how the minions had managed to get the 50-foot-tall plush unicorn into the lair without the shrink ray.
