Severus sighed as he watched James and Lily argue again.
"No" Lily said angrily "now go away". This made James smirk.
"Why would I go away when it's so fun to bother you?" he said. Hesitantly, Severus got up and walked over to where the two were arguing.
"Because I`m here" he said heroically. James pretended to look scared while Sirius and Remus laughed.
"Oh no it`s big bad Sev. What`re ya gunna do Sev? Boil me to death in your little cauldron?" he mocked.
"James quit it" Lily snapped, and then turning to Severus added "what are you doing? I can handle it!"
"I was just trying to help" he said in a hushed, defeated voice.
Lily smiled, taking Severus` hand "let`s go" she said raising her voice so James could hear her "it`s dinner time anyway". Then she forcefully, yet gently all the same pulled Severus off towards the castle.
"Whatever" James said keeping his cool "she`ll come around" and left following suit.
The two ate in the corridor as usual. Severus looked up at Lily and asked "what did James want anyway?" she he shoveled another bite into his mouth.
"Same old, same old" she shrugged "he just asked me out again". Severus choked and Lily laughed.
"Oh" he said to hide his discomfort.
"It`s fine" she giggled "even if I did go out with James; which I won't, nothing would change. It`s you and me forever Sev, you know that. You`re my best friend".
Severus sighed "right, best friend".
