Cradled in warmth and arms that surrounded her being perfectly, she smiled with content. Not a regret could be found when she was pulled closer, even with numbing pain shooting through her. The grip tightened but was unsteady and shook, shaking her in the process. She didn't mind, there were worse things that could happen in this moment.
She did her best to stay, really, honestly, truthfully . . . But her energy was used up and sleep was no longer enough to get it back. Even now she still kept a hold onto the last bit of hope that remained to stay in those arms. Her ears were filled with mournful words, wisps of nothing that told so much more than any look or pose could say, and she so badly wished to ease them and to show them her fearlessness. However she could only smile.
Then cooling skin was touched by warm lips that trembled as they pulled away, reluctant to move. Her breath hitched, caught and building in her throat leading her to cough. Dizziness, tiredness, unable to move or breathe . . . She didn't know how much longer she could hold on. Suddenly salted shines fell onto her soft flesh, gentle breathing could be heard. There was hesitation in the air they let off, she could sense that much. Again she was brought closer, again her cheek was kissed, but this time while she felt herself fading she heard a cracking voice giving her permission to let go. . .
And that she did.
