God bless us everyone, we're a broken people living under loaded gun. And it can't be outfought, it can't be outdone, it can't be outmatched, it can't be outrun. No!
The test of morality of a society is what it does for it's children.

Thresh POV
"One, two, three, KICK!"
"Hold on with your arms not your legs!"
"Weave the grasses like a blanket, yes like that."
"Painting can save your life in the arena, it is essential to blend in with your environment."
"When in a fight always aim for the heart or the legs, those wounds can bring a person down quickly and efficiently."
It was just another day in the training arena watching as the career tributes showed off and the lower districts struggled with things no one should ever be taught. To think that just in a few days I would be trying to kill them all, even Rue, was just unthinkable.
Today I had decided to sit on the side and watch the other contestants, content with the others thinking I was gathering info about there habits. I was sitting off daydreaming about my mother's home-made pie when she came over to sit by me.
Her usual braid was in place and she was twisting it giving the appearance that she was upset about something, deciding it wasn't my place I decided to contemplate the girl sitting next to me.
She was a spectacle all of her own, and there were many reasons why. I had seen the way she moved on the training area whenever she did something physical, it was like her body was made to jump and sprint. The way her body seemed to be liquid as she twisted and moved could make anyone envy her.
But it wasn't just her physical fitness either, it was her unpolished beauty. Where as the capital females were altered to the extremes and wore to much make-up, all she did was put her hair in a braid and wash her face from the sleep. Luckily for her the dark clouds that hung over her district must be why her skin is so pale, and yet not flawless at all.
When she was up there on the stage being interviewed by Caesar and I watched her twirl I had the sudden urge to rush forward and help her as she nearly fell over, but I am not the right one for her. It is not just her appearance that is puzzling, but also her personality. All though she seems brave and strong it's as if she hides her inner shyness behind it all. She is tough and caring enough to risk her own life for her sister, and she was trusting enough to let her designer set her on fire. The fact she is all of this is puzzling only because of who she is, and the fact that every guy isn't clambering up her doorstep to try to get to her just makes it more of a puzzle.
Suddenly she began to move and I was startled out of my thoughts, I watched as she got up and moved toward her district partner Peeta glowering at the career tributes as she walked by. Looking intensly as they leaned in closer to each other and caressed whatever weapon they had in their hands, I leaned forward and strained to hear and frowned in concentration.
"We'll...first... I get first... death will be mine."
Sitting back I felt my frown increase, so Cato thought he could kill her first? I shook my head and then directed my attention back to Katniss.
"I'll protect you. I promise."
