The Lonely Ladybug…
Catherine was sitting in her office; she was halfway listening to Greg and Nick's voices down the hallway. They were discussing a party Nick was going to have the same weekend if their time tables permitted it that was.
The middle-aged woman smiled thinking back to when she was at Greg's age; she worked around the clock and tried to get the ends to meet. Back then she had still been with Eddie, only trouble, even if they had had their good moments as well.
It seemed like forever ago now, looking at the two younger men she suddenly felt so old. Not only by age, but by life experiences. She wondered how different like would be if Eddie was still alive. They most likely would still quarrel, but at least there would be occasional sex. Good sex. If it was something she missed by not having Eddie around it was that. Not that Vartann hadn't been good in every way, but he was still not Eddie.
Catherine sighed, thinking about the men that had come into her life and then left her, in one way or another. She wasn't with anyone right now, it was better that way. Yet she couldn't help but feeling a bit jealous of everyone that had someone.
She cursed a bit to herself over that fact as she wondered if she would ever find love again. If nothing else she still had her looks which should be enough to draw a man to her. The only thing was that even as much as she hated to admit it, she wanted something solid, not just fun.
She slowly put some of her strawberry blonde hair behind her ear shaking her head, thinking that even if she didn't have a man in her life, she still had great friends and a wonderful daughter. All things considered, that was more than most people had. Maybe life wasn't that bad after all. And until mister right showed up at her doorstep if he ever did the middle-aged woman decided to settle for that.
She smiled as she took of her reading glasses and put them on the desk, before going out in the hallway to join Nicky and Greggo.
