The weather was terrible outside of Number 12 Grimwald place. Rain poured out of the sky in heavy sheets, with lightning flashing and thunder rumbled, matching the mood of the man standing at the window. Sirius Black was dressed in a set of simple black robes, his hair brushed back behind his ears, and his blue-grey eyes fixed on the storm outside. It matched his brooding mood perfectly.

Sirius sighed. He was tired of being cooped up in this house that he hated so much, he hated the musty smell of dust and aging wood. He hated Kreacher, the house elf who was always muttering, and he hated not being able to go outside! "Blast it all!" he shouted at no one. The rest of the Order was out on various parts of business and the children were back at school. How he wished he could go outside.

Well, why not? It was horrible weather so no one was likely to be out that would recognize him, right? Especially in his dog form...he'd just look like a stray. He wouldn't take a long walk, just enough to get a breath of air, even if he did get wet. No one would miss him either, no one was due back yet for another few hours. He settled it with himself stepped outside.

Between one lightning flash and another Sirius had changed from man to dog. Sirius wasn't quite an ordinary man, and if anyone had seen that transformation, they'd have realized it. No, he was a wizard, and more so he was an animagi...he could change into an animal. This was very useful since he was still wanted for a series of murders he never commited.

Happy to be out of the house, Sirius bounded down the sidewalk, barking happily. He jumped in an exceptionally large mud puddle, enjoying his freedom. This was wonderful, and the dog's bubbly energy inside of him made him feel extra giddy. Nothing could have been better...well, except if he'd had James with him...

His thoughts drifted along that line as he plodded along, stopping beneath a small tree to take a break from the rain and shake some water from his fur. All of a sudden his reverie was broken when a net came crshing down over him! He yelped, barking and snarling, thinking a death eater had attacked, but it wasn't so. Before he knew what was happening hed been tossed into a van with a bunch of other dogs...all strays!

'Oh no!' Sirius thought as he eyed a rather large and angry looking pitbull. 'I've been caught bye muggles! Worse yet...they think I'm a stray!'
