The night before Gwaine's funeral, Merlin went to visit his coffin. Just to say goodbye. He went alone with a pressed four leaf clover Gwaine had once given him. It was late so no one was about. He used his magic to unlock the door.
Merlin came to Gwaine's coffin. It was smooth, black, shiny and fine. R.I.P was printed in swirled golden letters on the lid. Merlin ran his fingers along it. "Hey you idiot!" he chuckled. Then he took a deep breath.
"You once said… well I don't remember it exactly! You said a lot of stuff and most of it was nonsense! I think it was, "I never stay in one place for very long. People get sick of me too quickly." That was wrong! You were so close to us for so long Gwaine. I'd give my left arm for you back! I'll miss you mate. You wanted the clover. We all love clover!" he chuckled slightly.
Merlin lifted the case to see Gwaine. He lowered the clover to tuck it into Gwaine's pocket. Gwaine's eyes snapped open and he grabbed Merlin's arm.
Merlin screeched and yanked his arm back falling over in the process. His heart tendered his blue eyes had widened and he was whiter than a sheet of paper. Gwaine laughed hysterically.
"I was waiting for one of you idiots to find out I was alive! I was begging to think I'd have to act out being a zombie and-" Gwaine was interrupted by Merlin climbing to his feet and punching Gwaine repeatedly.
"You git! You utter, utter git! You complete and utter git! You jerk! I hate you so damn much! I was crying over this Gwaine! I hate you I hate you I hate you! I'm so bloody glad you're alive!" merlin yelled and threw his arms around Gwaine.
Still laughing Gwaine slid out of the coffin and put his arms around Merlin and they walked out in higher spirits than anyone had ever been before. After scaring the hell out of everyone, (and getting a full refund plus extra for the funeral directors not listening to them when they said Gwaine wasn't goad and almost causing a heart attack) they fell back into their usual route of being filmed and filming. Except this time, Merlin didn't even think about complaining.
