Her Name Was Light

She was a rising sun
She always came out to greet me
She came to kiss me softly
That one morning

It was a beautiful morning
The kind that makes you feel
So completely awake
My muscles felt relaxed and
My soul, relieved

Her eyes shined
Just as the sliver of brightness
That peaked in through my curtains
Her name itself was light

I remember waking
That morning
I had thought it would be
A beautiful day

And it was beautiful, indeed
Though also very bitter
For all it takes is one dark cloud
To steal away the light
That kissed you awake

The storm rolled in before
I even got a chance to
Watch the sun set

And so I laid back
And watched the stars
Sprawl out instead

My epic light had
Loved the morning
Though I had always
Secretly feared that the
Lure of the night's darkness
Would suck her in
And leave me to a
Restless sleep once again
