-Chapter One-
"Uh, guys?" I called out, confused as I walked out onto the deck of the Thousand Sunny, only to find it empty. "Come on, this isn't funny" I muttered, walking around the deck, checking every nook and cranny while growing more and more confused when I didn't see them anywhere. Where could they have gone? We're out in the middle of the ocean and a good majority of them couldn't swim so they couldn't have abandoned ship. My ears twitched as I heard a loud crash come from the kitchen.
"Of course, how could I not think they'd be in there" I chuckled, lightly hitting myself as I walked towards the kitchen. Smiling as I pushed the door opened and got ready to greet my crewmates, only to stop at the sight I saw. "What the…" I looked at all the felines that sat in the kitchen, staring back at me with wide eyes as the place seemed to be in ruins. Pots and pans littered the floor as a puffy orange feline sat on the top counter while the eight others were scattered around. Some on the table and chairs while others sat on the floor.
The orange feline gave a loud yowl, hopping down from the counter as she made her way towards me, brown eyes narrowed in agitation. "Eh?" I tilted my head as she stopped in front of me, giving another loud yowl. Squatting down, I stared back at the cat, watching as her tail slowly swayed back and forth while she glared. The more I stared at her and took small glances at the other cats, the more I started to notice small details that reminded me of my friends. Putting two and two together, my eyes widened as I fell back in shock.
"W-what the h-hell happened?! Why a-are you all c-cats?!" I sputtered out, not even really believing in the words that flew from my lips. All I got in response was another loud yowl from Nami. Fixing my position, I sat up on my knees and picked her up, holding her out at arm's length. I flinched when she suddenly swatted at me. "This doesn't make any sense, just last night you all were perfectly normal and now you're all cats" I muttered, examining every aspect of Nami before finally putting her down when she started growling. Holding my chin in thought, I hummed, trying to come up with a logical reason.
"Hm?" I perked up, looking down as I felt something rub up against my side. "Sanji?" I questioned as I stared down at the blond feline that had an inward swirled eyebrow. I picked him up, listening as his purring got louder and hearts floated around him. 'Yep, it's him' I sweatdropped. My attention was soon quickly drawn towards the growling moss colored cat that was glaring at the blond with his one functioning eye.
"Zoro! Oh, you look so adorable!" I couldn't help but squeal as I sat Sanji down and scooped the green feline up. Standing up, I held him up to my face and rubbed the tip of my nose to his own while he wiggled around in my grasp. Growling and hissing in embarrassment as I continued to coo over him. I was brought back to reality when Nami suddenly released another loud, drawn-out yowl, scratching her claws against the wooden door of the kitchen. As if asking to be let out onto the deck.
"You want out?" I asked, watching as she nodded her head, this time giving a simple meow as a response. Sitting Zoro back down I pushed opened the door and watched as some of the felines rushed out onto the deck while the others calmly walked, Zoro following behind the rest with a grumpy look on his face which caused me to giggle. "I guess while we're out here, we can all figure out what happened and by "we", I mean me."
-Everybody's P.O.V-
Skylar wandered off, planning on rummaging through Nami and Robin's books, praying in some magical way that one of them would have a book that could help—even if there was a slim possibility of finding one that could be helpful. As she disappeared out of sight, all the cats gathered around in a circle to discuss some things. "This is fun!" Luffy laughed, stretching his body out and letting his tail happily sway behind him.
"Fun? This is terrible!" Nami snapped, growling as she swatted her claws at the raven colored feline. Robin only smiled as she wandered off from the group and climbed up onto her lawn chair. Curling up and staring down at the others with her calm blue eyes.
"Though the situation is quite strange, I say we should just go with it" she yawned, closing her eyes as a light purr emitted from her body.
"Robin, not you too, this is serious" Nami whined.
"I can't help but agree with Robin, it feels quite nice to have a living breathing body, even if it is for just awhile" Brook laughed lightly. Admiring the black fur that coated his long and skinny body. Skylar hummed as she came back on deck, carrying a stack of books with her and a map, the Log Pose was now attached to her wrist after finding it lying on Nami's bedside table. She heaved a sigh, casting a glance to the others and giving them a weary smile.
"You all need to promise you'll behave, I need to figure out how to get us safely to the next island and try to find some answers to your guys' problem" she said, leaving towards the front of the ship. "I hope I'm not an idiot for using this method" she muttered to herself as she stared down at the pile of books she sat down beside the steering wheel. She felt uneasy, scared at being put under the pressure of taking care of everyone and safely getting them all to the next island without crashing. While she had an internal panic attack, the others found themselves off doing their own thing. Making use of their situation.
Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper chased one another around the deck, the two adult cats being mindful of the small kitten that followed them. Franky laid on the deck in defeat, finding he couldn't do what he normally did while in this feline state. Sanji lovingly admired Nami who was lowly mumbling to herself as she grew annoyed with how the others didn't seem to understand the problem they were currently facing. Zoro, on the other hand, found himself wandering over towards the only human on the ship, watching as her eyebrows narrowed in confusion and she teased her bottom lip in thought. Causally switching from flipping through some of the books she had brought out to navigate.
Walking closer, he rubbed against her side, trying his best to comfort her from the stress she must have been feeling.
-Skylar's P.O.V-
"Hm? Oh, hello there, Zoro" I blinked as I looked down at the moss colored feline. Smiling sweetly at him as he weaved himself between my legs as if trying his best to comfort me. 'Cute' I squealed, scooping him into my arms as he purred and licked my cheek before rubbing his head underneath my chin. "Aw, someone's affectionate today" I cooed, gently petting him as his one functioning eye closed in delight. I couldn't help but smile at how adorable he was while ignoring how my arms started to shake from the weight of holding a full-grown cat with one arm.
"I appreciate the love and affection, but I really need to be focused on what I'm doing right now" I smiled, walking back over to where all the others were gathered. Sitting Zoro down right beside a growling Nami and Sanji who was admiring the growling feline. "Stay here while I try and figure out how to get us all safely to shore" the minute I turned away and walked back over to the steering wheel I heaved a sigh. Picking up one of the books off the ground, I flipped through it once again. It was one of Robin's books and it seemed to deal with all things strange and unnatural.
It was just our luck that the island the Log Pose was pointing towards was the same island the author lived on. I knew it was a long shot, believing that some stranger would have the answer to the problem we were all currently in. For all I knew everything written here was just nothing but fiction, written to look believable, but it was the only thing I could really rely on at the moment.
-Everybody's P.O.V-
Sanji growled at Zoro the minute Skylar went back to the steering wheel, his one visible eye narrowed. "What were you doing pestering, Skylar-chan, you shitty marimo?" the blond hissed.
"I didn't do a damn thing. All I did was check up on her" Zoro gruffly responded back, his one functioning eye narrowing as well as he flattened his ears on the back of his head. Nami's growling died away as she looked between the two, huffing when she saw Sanji bare his sharp canines. Both the blond and moss haired cat looking as if they were ready to pounce one another.
"What the hell are you two doing? Now's not the time to be fighting!" Nami snapped, before reeling back in surprise when the two jumped at each other. Biting and clawing at one another as they sneered out insults. They're fighting was causing such a ruckus that it caught the others attention along with Skylar's who removed her eyes from the Log Pose to look back.
"What the…" she wandered away from the steering wheel once again and back to where the others were gathered. Stopping, she deadpanned at the sight of Sanji and Zoro fighting. Nami hissing and swatting at them, seemingly too afraid to get involved in the catfight as she was not too confident that she could stop it while in this current state of hers. The others were either finding amusement from the fight or were watching it with a bored expression as if they couldn't care less about what was happening. "Hey!" everyone except the two fighting felines looked towards the brunette who huffed.
"Sanji, Zoro, stop that!" she demanded as the two finally jumped away from one another, their backs arched upwards and fur puffed up while they circled around one another. She was quick to react when they both lunged at each other, grabbing Zoro by the scruff of his neck and holding him up. Just as she opened her mouth to scowl the two for not listening to her the first time, she was caught off by a loud yelp and the stinging feeling of claws ripping through the soft flesh of her cheek. Zoro was roughly dropped back onto the ground as the others stared on in shock, watching as Skylar grabbed her now stinging cheek. Her eyes seemed to water a little as she pulled her hand back to stare at the smeared blood that stained her fingers.
Droplets of blood slid down her face and dripped off her chin, staining the grassy deck underneath her feet as she stood there in slight shock. Just staring down at her bloody fingers before blinking her eyes as she heard loud meowing. "Shit! Skylar, I didn't mean to do that, I'm sorry" Zoro apologized, but all Skylar heard was strangled meows as the green cat stared up at her sadly. Looking around, the brunette gave a wide smile and a small laugh.
"There's nothing to worry about guys" she reassured when she saw the wide-eyed gazes the felines were giving her. "It's just a scratch, nothing a bit of cleaning alcohol and bandages can't fix" she chuckled before trudging towards where Chopper's office was located.
