So Long Old Friend

Fred Flintstone, dressed in his best saber tooth tiger suit, passed a handkerchief to his petite red headed wife who could no longer hold back the tears. Yogi and Bo bo, had arrived a little late, they hadn't heard the news until after Yogi's latest picnic basket heist. The criminals of Mega Kat City had taken just this one day, to spare the city from their fury; there was no sense in kicking a dead horse. T-bone and Razor, in their blue flight suits, at least had the luxury of their masks to hide the sadness that raged through their eyes like a storm ridden sea.

George Jetson, Jane his wife, daughter Judy, and his boy Elroy sat like statues in their second row seat; they had come from a galaxy far, far away to see of their old friend, one final time. Even Tom and Jerry put aside their natural hatred of each other, and sat side by side in silence, listening to the Priest's gentle and kind words easing the friendly soul towards a rest of tranquility and eternal piece. Johnny Quest and his family accompanied by their body guard, Race Banyan, had arrived late from a recent expedition and found a spot in the back, not wanting to disturb the proceedings. Shaggy gone back to the Mystery Machine in the parking lot, not for a snack, but he couldn't face seeing off one of his best friends. Fred, Daphne and Velma stayed for him, and Scooby Doo sat as straight as he possibly could his head slightly nodded in a form of mourning.

Finally, the Priest finished his sermons, and quotations of the bible. For one final time the various friends and even enemies held a lengthy moment of science. When the moment had passed they all began to say there kind words of support to one another, the men shook hands, the woman hugged, and they went on their way to continue in honor of the man that had united them all, Mr. Joe Barbera.
