Summary: Once upon a time, there was a boy. He was much loved by his mother, so loved that she died for him, struck down by a cruel man.
He was much loved by his mother, so loved that she died for him, struck down by a cruel man. The boy was sent away to live in a cold house, surrounded by people who wished not to see him. He was lonely and small, aching inside for warmth. People looked at him and whispered in his back at his strange eyes and his apathy. He was a boy forgotten by the world until on day, he received a letter.
There was a boy, brought into a new world.
His eyes shone in understanding, finding a new meaning to his life. All this knowledge previously hidden was unveiled for him and he embraced it eagerly. He read and learned, taught himself what no one wanted to teach. He fed from knowledge, drank it as if it was water, absorbing it into his body, his mind. He saw the heavens, a starlit world where there was no emptiness for everything was perfectly in their place, gazing expectantly up at him.
There was a boy who had a dream.
But there were still whispers in his back, people talking behind their hands. Look at his clothes, look at his face, they said. They judged him from afar and looked down on him with a frown as if they had the rights to. He persevered, looking into older books, wanting to prove himself. He worked harder and harder, using everything he had to show them, show them what he was, what he could do. He wanted to take their breaths away with his power, hear them whisper his name with wonder in their eyes.
There was a young man who became great.
But the higher he sore, the louder the whispers followed. Look at him, they said, this greediness, it is suspicious. They grew weary of him, shunned him out, expulsing him from their world and erasing his name from their memories. He felt hurt. He felt sadness. He felt anger. He would show them, get back to them. He went into the darkest forests, the highest mountains, looking for something, anything that would help. He looked for forgotten secrets, weapons, knowledge, but what he found was himself.
There was a boy who became a man.
He came back to his world and showed them. He showed them what he was, he showed them what he could do and he showed them what he would become. But on seeing his face, they covered, eyes quivering. They judged without asking, without listening. They pointed their fingers at him: evil! Evil! He trembled at their cowardice, all his dreams squashed by hate. He came swiftly over them, killing, cursing, looking into their face as their eyes were lit by green, awestruck. They were fools to stand in his way. He would rise, greater than History, his power shining over a world he would make perfect.
There was a man who had a purpose until...
Until there was a boy, so small and loved by his mother. Loved so much she died for him. And as he looked into this boy's eyes, green green eyes, there was nothing but darkness.
