"Mien awesome Birdie~" Prussia sang as he hugged the blonde from behind. He was trying to act normal, but he was slowly dissolving. The Kingdom of Prussia no longer existed, and Gilbert, the personification, was no longer going to exist in due time.

"O-oh, bonjour, Gil," Matthew said. He was unaware of what was happening to the albino, even though Gilbert was slowly fading physically.

"Liebe, I have something to tell you..." The pain in the older man's voice was hinted, but not positive.

"What is it?"

"My kingdom... it's currently nonexistent."

"What?! Gil, what-"

"I'm dying, Matthew."

"You-" the Canadian couldn't take it anymore. He fell to his knees, his face in his hands, full-out sobbing. "You can't! You can't die! Countries don't die!"

"They do. They die after their existence dissolves. Sometimes, it's slow, but sometimes, it's immediate," Prussia explained gently as he knelt to the ground and held the crying blonde.

"You can't die! You're one of the few who notice me! Do you realize how much you mean to me? Do you know combien vous valez le moi?! (Do you know how much you're worth to me?!)" Canada had shifted from English to Francais in the blink of an eye.

"I know, I mean the world to you. But it's final. I may come back, but I may not. Fate shall decide."

"Then, let's spend every minute together possible. I'm moving in."

So, the Prussian let Mattie move in with him. They were almost inseparable. They had 'fun' a lot, but still, every second was a painful one, knowing what would become of Gilbert.

One day, he felt it.

"Matthew?"

"Oui?"

"Come here," Prussia opened his arms. Matt was between them immediately, nestled in what would be their last hug.

"Ich liebe dich, mien ehrfurchtige Birdie," he whispered as he kissed Canada's forehead.

"Je t'aime..."

Slowly, the personification of Prussia known as Gilbert Bielschmidt faded. It was painfully tragic to Matthew when he realized he was no longer being held by the albino he loved so deeply, the one he'd do anything, even die for.

"Gil?" he asked, his eyes opening slowly. Suddenly, it sunk in. He was alone. Tears ran down his face, and he whispered one sentence: "Je t'aime."
