Caskettish, a bit sad... ok quite sad. Review please!... even if you hate it.

Rick woke up in a white room. People were buzzing around the place asking questions, checking machines, sticking things into him, but it was all a blur. Finally, one face focused in.

"Hello Rick, I'm Doctor Callaway. You've been in an accident. You were out for a while, but you seem to be ok now. Probably just a concussion." Rick tried to focus on what the doctor was saying, but there was only one person on his mind. He remembered being in the car. He remembered being in the car next to Kate. Kate.

"Where's Kate?" He asked, his voice full of worry and fear. The doctor's face saddened slightly.

"She's..." The doctor stumbled. "She's not in a very good condition. She lost a lot of blood..." Rick's eyes widened in horror. Dr. Callaway took a deep breath. "We don't think she's going to make it. Do you want to see her?" Rick nodded in a daze. Kate wasn't going to make it? She was so strong, so stubborn. How the hell could a suspect ramming the side of their car with his truck stop Kate?! She didn't let go. She didn't back down. It was what made her extraordinary. How could she be 'not making it'!? Rick's eyes stayed unfocused, his lips slightly parted as the nurse wheeled him to the room where is muse lay broken and bleeding.

"Kate." He whispered as he saw her now pale body laying on the gurney. The white sheets were stained red as machines blared around her. He rushed to her side and took a hand in his own, careful of the wires and needles attached to her.

"Kate." He whispered again. Her eyes fluttered open as she looked into his blue eyes, her brow creasing at the desperate look on his face. He could see the determination in her face as she tried not to show her pain. He felt the tears welling up in his eyes, hers mirroring his. She began to whimper slightly as the tears made tracks down her face.

"Shh." He made a comforting sound as his hand reached up to trace her face. Her weak hands gripped his arm as if she was holding on for dear life. His hand cupped her cheek as their eyes had the conversation they'd been putting off for the last year.

"Hold me?" She croaked, in a completely 'un-Kate' manner. He complied immediately, manoeuvring himself around the doctors that were still working desperately on Kate. They both sat at the head on the bed, both of his arms were wrapped around her as she held herself close to him.

Kate twisted her head up to look at him, groaning slightly at the pain. She gazed at his lips and as if they could read each other's mind they leaned in and touched their lips gently. He brushed his lips across hers as he memorised her features, wishing with all his heart he would be able to do this again, but under better circumstances. She savoured the feel of his lips against hers, praying to God that she wouldn't leave his world so soon after finding the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. He held her tight in his arms while be sobbed, tears running down his cheeks as he felt all the tension leave her body. He kissed her their last kiss as he found a love that he knew he would miss.
