DISCLAIMER: If I owned Harry Potter, well, we'd still be waiting for book 2 the way I procrastinate.

This is part 1. Part 2 is almost finished and should be posted in about a week.

May 31, 1997

Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, sat behind his desk as he mentally worked over the current problem foisted upon him by Professor Snape and Mr. Malfoy who were currently seated across from him. What they requested was rather large, and not a decision to be made hastily. Unfortunately, due to the circumstances, time was not a luxury available to him.

He had known, of course, that the Malfoy heir was a Veela when he was first graced the hallowed halls of Hogwarts. It was a secret kept by all headmasters that certain students were magical humanoid creatures, allowed an education while pretending to be fully human. A half-blooded selkie had graduated the year previously from Ravenclaw, and one of the first year Gryffindors was a changeling. There had also been gnomes, part-goblins, and no small number of fey over the years.

The problem he faced currently was that Draco wanted away from the dark path his father had set for him. He would be a welcomed asset to the light for sure, but that wasn't the issue. The difficulties lie in how he was to make the transition. Male Veela are rare, and little information spread about them. They didn't have the allure capabilities of the females, although they were universally handsome. Most of the Veela powers which came naturally to the women were only available to the men once they had bonded to a mate.

A male Veela mates for life, and the bond is solidified by a small ritual. Nothing complex, it just requires a spell cast by a third party in front of a witness at first penetration. The spell links the two, and allows the Veela to draw upon their combined magical cores to achieve a full avian transformation, as well as traits and abilities known only to the Veela community. That was not the problem either, as Dumbledore had in fact been bonder for both Abraxas and Lucius in his time, as well as a handful of others in his century and a half of life.

There is no magical draw to a potential mate. They are chosen much the same way a normal man would look for a wife. They find someone they are attracted to, court them, and then bond if both parties are agreeable. The only sticky point is that they must bond by their 17th birthday. A bond formed any later will not grant the Male Veela access to their inborn abilities.

The dilemma was that Draco wanted to bond with Harry Potter. He refused to even consider someone else.

His father was holding the bond over his head. If he didn't find a mate by June 1st, he would have a suitable suitor selected for him and they would be bonded on the eve of his 17th birthday. And a suitable mate chosen by Lucius would be a Death Eater, their child, or at the minimum a sympathizer.

And so Dumbledore warred mentally between the well-being of Harry and the chance to redeem a child from the dark.

He had noticed, of course, the lack of interest Harry showed in his female companions beyond friendship. He had never been seen showing any affection beyond an occasional hug, that he didn't initiate, to anyone. There were a few scattered rumors about his dating of Cho Chang the year previously, but from all accounts it seemed that their relationship sank before it began.

Word had also reached him over the years of the many disagreements between the two young men in question. They would often have words, and occasionally minor hexes, but it never progressed to any real level of violence. In fact, it almost reminded him of the stories he'd heard of young boys would pull the pigtails of the girls they liked. They don't know how to properly express themselves, and fueled on by friends and friendly house rivalries, they gave the only affection they thought they could.

Perhaps the biggest indicator that everything would work was provided at the end of the second task of the Tri Wizard Tournament. Ms. Delacour, in her despair and then relief, had temporarily lost control of her Veela allure. Nearly every male in attendance would have chopped their wand arm off if they thought it would win her favor. And Harry just sat there. Not even a twitch of his eye to tell he was affected. Only those with exceptionally strong wills, those in love, or those who were not interested in females did not react to a Veela's charm.

It wouldn't even be the first time a Malfoy had fallen for a Potter. Draco's own father had expressed an interest in being bonded to James, but the silly boy had overreacted and made a magical vow to never marry a Malfoy.

In the end, the chance at redemption overruled any arguments he had for declining. Harry needed love to achieve his full potential, and he obviously wasn't finding it on his own. Hopefully the boy wouldn't put up too much of a fuss. There was really nothing wrong with a male lover, and it was for the greater good after all.

Sending off a summons with a house elf, the trio made idle talk of the future while they waited.

Ten minutes later saw Harry Potter entering the Headmasters Office.

"Ah, Harry my boy, please come in. Sherbet lemon?" He held out the bowl he kept on his desk.

"No thank you sir. May I ask why you called me here?"

"A pity, oh well. Have a seat please Harry, we have much to discuss." Dumbledore gestured towards the empty seat next to Draco. He watched as Harry sat down in the offered chair, and was inwardly relieved when he saw him shoot a small smile in Mr. Malfoy's direction. "I asked you here today because we have a rather large problem. To let you in on a secret, Mr. Malfoy here is what is known as a Male Veela. To put it bluntly, he must choose and bond a mate by his majority. He has chosen you to be that mate."

Silence reigned in the office, and for a moment, Albus thought Harry was going to explode upon them like he did at the end of the previous year. However, slowly but surely a smile made it's way onto Harry's face and excitement shone in his eyes.

"You're serious? I mean, you're not just pulling my leg, right? I get to be Draco's husband?"

Snape took this time to speak up. "I assure you we are not 'pulling your leg' Potter. And you are mistaken; Draco would be your husband. A Veela is always the dominant one in the bond. However, he has generously offered to allow your second male child to take the Potter name."

"I can live with that Professor Snape." Harry's smile was reaching epic proportions and one could almost feel the excitement radiating off of him. Turning towards a very relieved Draco, he continued. "Thank you so much for letting me continue the Potter line. But how are we going to have any children together? And would they be Veela too?"

With a visible sigh of relief, Dumbledore answered him. "There is a potion that Professor Snape has brewed that will magically alter your abdomen to accommodate a growing life. It will be have to be delivered by a specially trained Healer, though. And yes, any children you have will be Veela."

Harry appeared pensive for a moment. "How are we to be bonded? I've never heard of such a thing before."

"It's a small ritual. At the moment Mr. Malfoy penetrates you, I cast a modified matrimony bonding spell upon you. You will be, in the eyes of the law, married. Professor Snape has graciously offered to be witness to the joyous occasion. Don't worry, we will be disillusioned so as not to be distracting. The bonding will allow Mr. Malfoy to reach his full potential as a Veela, and he will be able to draw upon your magical core in times of need."

Harry's blushed madly. "So Draco and I have to make love while you and Professor Snape are watching, at least for part of it, and you have to cast a spell on us. But afterwards, we get to share magic?"

Snipe's face contorted slightly as he fought the urge to sneer. 'For Draco' he repeated to himself. "No, Potter. First off, we have to be here for all of it. The magic of the bonding spell doesn't complete until Draco's finished. Secondly, you don't 'share magic'. The bonding will awaken Draco's full Veela heritage, and one of their documented abilities is to draw on their bonded's magic."

"Oh, alright. Thank you for clarifying Professor Snape." Snape's face contorted again. "If we're going to do this, then we should do it right. Professor Dumbledore, since we're done with exams already, would you please grant Draco and myself permission to leave the castle for the next few days? It would allow us to have a few dates away from the prying eyes of our classmates, and maybe allow me to meet my new in-laws properly. And then we would return here on the fourth to be bonded."

Professor Dumbledore smiled at how seriously Harry was taking this. It was so good to see young love in action. "I'm afraid that cannot happen. The ritual needs to be performed tonight."

Harry reached over and grabbed one of Draco's hands. "But I thought his birthday was on the fifth?"

Taking the fact that Harry knew Draco's birthday as a good sign, Dumbledore elaborated. "You are correct that he was born on the fifth, but his father has issued him an ultimatum. He must be bonded by tonight or else Lucius will force him to bond a person of his choosing. Young Mr. Malfoy wishes to join the light, and any possible intended Lucius would select would most assuredly have Voldemort's agenda in their heart."

"Oh, well then I rephrase my request. May Draco and I be excused from the rest of the school year so we can start our honeymoon?" He gave another smile to Draco, who shyly smiled back. "I've had Dobby cleaning up Grimmauld Place so I could move there after I leave the Dursley's this summer. What do you say Draco, would you like to live in the manor of the Ancient and Noble House of Black? It could be my dowry to you."

Draco finally shook himself out of the nervous stupor. He had been so relieved that Potter, no Harry was agreeable to being his mate. He hadn't been looking forward to the stress that forcing him would have caused. He looked up at the smiling boy that was still holding his hand. "That would be ideal. It's only befitting that a Malfoy should live in a manor." He felt Harry give his hand a reassuring squeeze.

Dumbledore interrupted the new couple's shared look. "Well then, if that's all settled, let us begin. I have had the house elves set up a bed in my study for you to use tonight. Severus, if you would be so kind as to give Mr. Potter the potion we can be underway. "He was rising from his seat when Harry spoke up.

"We're doing this now?"

Snape could not control his sneer this time. "No you foolish child, we're waiting for the Christmas Hols. Of course we're doing it now."

"But I need to get ready. I have to prepare! My first time is going to be special. Let me run back to Gryffindor Tower and shower and clean up, put some special clothes on, maybe a touch of aftershave. I promise promise promise to be back in an hour!"

Snape was about to comment when Dumbledore interrupted him. "I'm sure we can allow the boy an hour to prepare, Severus. The night is still young, and it's only fair that Mr. Potter be given a chance to smarten himself up. You only get one first time, and we should strive to make it as special as possible for both of them. I'm sure Mr. Malfoy has done the same."

"Yes sir, I have."

"Very well then. Harry, we will see you back here in an hour."

Harry gave them another dazzling smile. "Thank you so much sir." He jumped up from his seat and gave Draco a kiss on the cheek. "I'll be back as soon as I can!"

He was almost out the door when Snape called out to him. "Potter, aren't you forgetting something?" He held up the vial of what Harry assumed to be the male pregnancy potion.

"Can I take it with me sir? That way I can brush my teeth afterwards."

Snape looked over at Albus who gave him a small nod."Fine, Potter, but make sure to drink all of it."

Harry ran over to his professor and grabbed the potion, before virtually running out the door, a "Be back soon" thrown over his shoulder.

"I think that went rather well." The group that was left sat down to wait for Mr. Potters return.
