The Woe of a Name by Yofune-Nushi

Lol the horror, a story about why I think Kanda hates being called by his name.
Warnings: complete crack.

"Who did it!?"

Both man and woman looked up from their activities; the former from reading the paper and the latter from serving the former tea, in surprise to see a their little five year old boy with his face puffed up in an angry scowl (though it came off as more cute than anything) tapping his small foot impatiently against the wooden floor of the house.

"Who did what Yu Chan?" His lovely Mother inquired, confused as to what her darling son thought was apparently down wrong to him.

"That!" The little boy suddenly pointed angrily with his little finger as if as if the problem was right in front of him (in his mind it was too).

"That, what?" His Father repeated with a tilt of his head to the side before standing up and strolling over to stand in front of his son.

The boy not intimidated in the slightest only puffed up his chest more as if he was facing an adversary who dared to think he was even worthy of being in his presence and with a look of determination on his face looked up at the man who helped bring him into the world and said. "This that!" And promptly shoved the document as high into the air as he could for his Father to take it and proceed back to tapping his foot, waiting until he was done reading.

"gentleness, superiority" or "distant, leisurely".

"You, can read this?" The Father asked not sure if he could believe it. After all their little Yu Chan didn't know how to talk until he was three years old, they assumed it would take much longer for him to grasp a good understanding of the difficult symbols in their native language.

"No!" The little boy nearly boomed back defensively. "I had Grandpa read it to me. But that's not important, what's important is why did you do it!?"

"Do what?" The man asked patiently, though honestly he was becoming tired of his own son making both him and his wife confused over a slip of paper.

The boy huffed disbelieving and gave a look that tried to convey murder. "Give me such a girly name! I am a samurai I do not acknowledge such a sissy name and I demand you either give me a new one or call me Kanda from now on!"

Both parents looked on speechless at their son as he stood on his tip toes as if to make himself look both taller and menacing (though really any who saw would instantly see the desired effect had failed completely) and looked past his parents as if he was a warrior filled with vast wisdom and strength that they could never comprehend.

His Father looked down at his son with a frown "But it suits you so well Yu Chan"

Suddenly the spell was broken on little self proclaimed Kanda and with a swift kick to his Fathers ankle which was quickly followed by the legendary explosive outburst that even from years later would be known to all who meet him.

"Don't call me Yu!"

And with that the moral of the story is please be careful what you name your child. All names have a meaning to them and that meaning may not sit well with that child for years to come.

Notes*

1). Technically it's Yuu that has that meaning. I've seen Kanda's name be spelled like that before but I'm more used to Yu so I used that instead in the story. XP

2). Just a little something I had written a long time ago and decided to post here since due to circumstances in my life I've been neglecting my other fics .
