Friends. No definitively could not be call friends. A friend was someone you could trust, someone you could count on. Someone who was there for you in good and bad and to who you were there in good and bad. So, no, there were definitively not friends.
Ok, so maybe there were not mortal enemies any more and since he had become good friends whit Naoya it was impossible to avoid him completely. But the fact that he had become able to tolerate his bulling and ignore his mean remarks or the fact that he had learn to shot some remarks back at him and that they will both laugh at the whole thing later did not make them friends. No way in hell.
