America stared down at the documents on his work desk, depicting Lithuania's attempts for reindependence and Russia's intervention.

He refused to just let Russia walk over his 'friend' again as he stood up and reached over to quickly dial Toris's number in order to tell the other that he still supported his independence and if need be, would fight for it.

Alfred smiled slightly despite the soon to be serious topic to just hear Lithuania greet him on the other end of the phone.

"Hi, I just figured that you may want to know that I still support you. I will fight Russia if he keeps going with this." Alfred cut right to the chase eager to tell his friend such and to offer his own support for him.

"Thank you." Toris had somehow forgotten that the American that he loved all the way across the world had cared strongly enough for him to risk his own peace for Lithuania's safety and independence.

"No problem. You don't have to tell me that as I just don't want you going back through Russia's rule again. He's never been the nicest nation." Alfred shrugged though he smiled to just be able to talk to Lithuania again.

"Ivan isn't that bad though I and my people still want our independence from any opposing power." Toris nearly stuttered out, only growing more confident once he mentioned his own desire and his people's desires.

"You deserve it after all of your hard work." Alfred smiled though he knew really that they didn't have long to talk as Lithuania still had more work to do with regaining his independence, and Alfred still had his own paperwork to work on over different topics.

Present Day

Alfred smiled at Lithuania, "I'll always be there for you," which was met by the tightening of his firm grip on Lithuania's hand.

"I love you." Alfred finally finished before Lithuania was able to respond.

"I love you too, Alfred. Thank you for everything that you've done." After all, America had accepted thousands of Lithuanian immigrants over the years and had allowed them to keep up with their old culture and had been one of the first nations to support the regaining of Lithuanian independence and was willing to support it with brute force if necessary.

"It was nothing as you worked towards it; I only helped a little." Alfred smiled as he leaned closer to his Lithuanian boyfriend's side as the moon's light fell gently upon them as night slowly fell as well.

Peace and freedom were things that took work to achieve in an ever changing and power hungry world and right now, they had these moments much to their relief and could finally relax side by side with no worries or fears of that kind or at least until a large enough threat wound itself around them that threatened their own independence and the peace from that.

Alfred tucked Lithuania closer to his side as finally he kissed him among this temporary peace and recent nightfall; like every other kiss that they shared, the gentle tingling and the warm spark of it all traveled along their veins as they spent those moments close together.

When he did pull away, he was greeted by the gentle and loving smile of Toris's that never failed to make his heart dance and his veins rush.

It would be okay as they had each other through every obstacle regardless of the risk involved and the hard work that would have to be done.

They'd get through this together as their past had held true, and their future maintained that promise from long ago, reaffirmed and held together despite every single obstacle in their way.
