"Nala...Her name is Nala. And her sister was going to be Lily."
A dying she-cat said looking at her mate.
"Make sure Nala knows how much she is loved. I am sorry for going but I have to. I'll be with Lily."
A nut brown tom pressed his nose into his mate's fur. The she-cat looked at her mate with her clear blue eyes.
"Always. I promise."
"Good-bye Heather, I hope you find peace."
"Good-bye Reese."

"Bia! Leave your sisters alone. Go play with your brother."
Bia's mom, Thorn, said as the young tom, the youngest of his three siblings, pounced on his sister Jade's tail.
"But mamma! Jake is going to make me a battering board!"
Bia said as his mom scooped him up and placed him next to his older brother. Bia just looked on as Jake cleaned out his claws. He sighed and looked around, mostly up through the hole in the ceiling. When his mom wasn't looking he crept up to the roof and looked at the stars. That was his favorite past-time and as he looked at the stars he heard voices coming from below him, not to far away from his home. He quickly got down and scampered over to the voices.
"Make sure Nala knows how much she is loved. I am sorry for going but I have to. I'll be with Lily."
"Always I promise."
"Good-bye Heather, I hope you find peace."
"Good-bye Reese."
Bia quickly backed away and headed back home. Who are those cats? And who is Nala? He thought as he headed home. Little did he know that years later Nala would change his life. And not only would she change it she would save him from a deep dark fate.
"Mamma!"
Bia called out as he walked into his home. He could still smell Jade, Jake, Thea and Tulip but he couldn't find his mom's scent. He quickly looked around and found Thea cowering in a corner.
"Thea?"
He called quietly as he walked towards his sister. She had fear in her green eyes as she looked at Bia.
"Jade,Tulip and Jake killed mom. They said it was there inauguration ceremony. When I refused to help them they threatened to kill me. So I hid. I didn't know what else to do. Oh Bia, what have I done?"
Bia felt numb and he laid down next to Thea. His mom was dead. His mom and his siblings had done it. Now it was just him and Thea. They had no one else to depend on besides themselves.
"Come on Thea, we have to get out of here! We don't want them to find us."
And with that brother and sister padded away into the night.
