Severus had a very odd Patronus, as was discovered in seventh-year Defense Against the Darks Arts. It was just before Christmas, and Prof. Stonebarde had decided to give them a small break. She taught the seventh-years this charm every year at this time, though usually only half the class succeeded in a somewhat-recognizable Patronus. This particular class was a mix of Hufflepuff and Slytherin, the second worst pairing possible, Gryffindor-Slytherin being the first.

In all her years, she'd never seen a Patronus flee from its castor. She watched throughout the lesson—deeply interested and pretending not to be—while the dark (in both features and personality) teen grew more frustrated. His half-corporeal Patronus, for the brief moment it paused before leaping out of the window or the door (depending on which was nearest) was a fairly large, four-legged animal with skinny limbs and a prance to its step. It could be a colt, or a gazelle, or even a simple deer. Maybe a little odd considering the personality of the one casting it, but she'd seen a gruff Gryf produce a miniscule jellyfish.

But to run away the moment of its creation was over. That was something else.

"Dumbledore, what could it mean?" She caught him on his way out of the Great Hall, and was nervous for his opinion. "There's so much we don't understand about the Patronus Charm."

"It's very simple and somewhat sad, Alexandra." No sparkle lit his eye for a moment. "What is a Patronus but pure joy in corporeal form? That it runs away from Mr. Snape is troubling. Especially as he is the type to take something apart, even if he does not like what he sees inside." The headmaster abruptly changed the subject. "I believe Miss Evens has a doe Patronus?"

She, being no dullard, looked at the pieces, put them together, and felt sick at the image it made.

Just thought to put this idea out there, even if it already is. Reviews are soooooo good.
