A/N: I wrote this a few months ago. It was meant to be part of a larger story mostly about the difficulties Ellie faced raising Chuck without her parents around. This one is very short but I think gives valuable insight into Ellie. I'll probably write each chapter as a one-shot after I finish my other story. It could be awhile before I get to finish this but I wanted to post it now to gauge the interest. Enjoy!

Still don't own Chuck any anything else except my truck.

Chapter 1

Ellie's First Patient

Ellie is focusing on her newest patient's injuries. She knows that stitches will be required but for now bandages will have to do. The patient is the victim of a vicious dog attack and has multiple lacerations, not to mention a missing ear. 'The stupid dog probably ate it' she thinks to herself. 'Not much chance to re-attach it.'

It isn't the worst dog attack she has treated but it is the most emotional to her because of her history with the patient. She has known Mr. Winnipeg all of her life and it hurts seeing him this way. 'He's always been a good friend' she reflects on all the times he's been there to comfort her when she was sad and always listened to when she needed someone to talk to.

"I'm sorry about this," She reassures him as she bandages another cut, "but this will have to do until we get you into surgery. I think I'll need to bring in a specialist."

Ellie sighs as she reaches for more tape and shoots the attacker a nasty look.

"Peaches what did Mr. Winnipeg do to you?"

The dog's tail wags slowly knowing her four year old master was upset with her.

"Ellie, what are you doing?" asks Mary Bartowski.

"Stupid Peaches tried to eat my bear, Mr. Winnipeg" said the young girl. "I'm fixing him, but he really needs stitches, can you help?"

Mary smiles at her daughter "Of course, I will. Bring him here and find his ear and I'll stitch him up."

Ellie's tear filled eyes looked up at her mother, "Stupid Peaches ate it!"

Mary stifles a laugh as she looks at the Winnie the Pooh bear, "That's ok, it'll give him character. At least it was only an ear, all we found of Mr. Paddington was a leg."

Ellie shuddered at the memory of poor Mr. Paddington's stuffing's all over the floor and the leg hanging out of Peaches mouth.

"What's going on in here?" asked Ellie's father Stephen Bartowski. "Oh boy! Another Paddington incident? Ellie, your Mother and I need to ask you something." said Stephen. "How would you like a baby brother or sister?"

"I'm getting a brother?" squealed the young aspiring doctor.

"Well, it could also be a sister" said her mother.

"A brother would be better, a sister would try and wear my clothes" said the four year old.

"Remember, as the older sister you have to protect your brother or sister. It's a big responsibility." said her father. "It'll be your job to watch out for them and keep them safe."

"Okay, but we'll have to keep him away from Peaches." Ellie said, giving the dog another icy stare.
