Ganondorf stalked quietly through a dank, dimly-lit cave. It was one he was sure the great hero would pass through on his pilgrimage to stop him. He laughed at that thought- no matter how many times it happened, it always seemed laughable that some newborn rube that ran around in a green nightcap could defeat him. Though that's why he was here now, wasn't it? To get a little payback for the past lifetimes of humiliation.
He ventured further into the cave, idly checking treasure chests until he found what he was looking for—
YES, this was it! The one trickier to get to that contained a Piece of Heart! Now all he had to do was do the deed and have someone record it. He gestured to a nearby Stalfos in a rumpled and tattered dark blue tunic with long sleeves.
"Here, take this and take pictures" he instructed the Stalfos, handing him a camera.
"no prob, man. I love pranking across time, space and other dimensions." The rather short Stalfos said, stepping back to get Ganondorf and the piece of heart in frame.
"Hyaah!"
"Haa!"
"Urrph!"
Link dispatched the last enemy in his way of the treasure chest, which he approached quite happily. These ones hidden in the back usually had some good loot in them!
He smiled goofily to himself as he opened the chest, and let out a loud whooping sound when he hoisted the Piece of Heart out of it.
Woodang, these things were hard to find! Here he was though, with the last piece to a Heart Container. His victorious mood was a little soured as the piece joined the others and became a part of him, filling him with strength, and...and...eugh. What was that?
It felt like something slimy and cold crawled into his chest with that Heart Container. Maybe even brushing up against his very SOUL.
Link tried very hard not to wretch as he gripped the side of the treasure chest.
He thought he saw and heard movement nearby, but he saw no one when he looked up. Good gosh, he hoped he wasn't seeing things.
Still on alert, he looked back down in the chest while looking around to find…there was more in the bottom? That's not how it usually worked. Lo and behold, there they were: a bunch of photographs lying flat against the bottom of the box.
Upon closer inspection, Link felt his stomach drop. His focus honed in on the pictures as he took them out and silently went through them with shaking hands.
It was this incarnation of Ganondorf, eyes absolutely smoldering as he lavished his tongue over the Piece of Heart. He flipped through the pictures frantically, mentally begging for this to not be true, but all he got was photo after photo of his sworn enemy, King of Demons, rubbing the Heart Piece on various parts of his body or handling it in his mouth like it were the tastiest hard candy he'd ever had.
Oh.
Great.
Fairy.
That was inside of him now. That was a part of his SOUL.
The pictures fluttered to litter the cave floor as Link started to dry heave. He vaguely heard more sounds around him and looked around to make sure he was safe; nothing again. He slumped to the ground and laid on his side, curling into himself as the sick feeling inside him grew.
He didn't know if he could get it out again… There had never been a reason to try before...
'Why?' Link thought.
Why would he do this?
The skeleton reported back to Ganondorf as soon as the pictures were taken, grin stretched wide with his hand bones shoved in his pockets.
"man, the look on that kid's face was priceless." said Sans as Ganondorf went through the pictures of Link's reaction with a pleased expression.
"Yes." Ganon replied. "I couldn't ask for anything sweeter." He chuckled gruffly with the skeleton.
